Hopkins is a cherry picker, however he's paid his dues & he's a 49 year old man, so he can face who he wants.

Perhaps what is frustrating you more is that the casual fan is not able to appreciate a 49 yr old man going to the ring & outboxing his opponent at an extremely high level.

Hopkins is very good at matchmaking. The only time it really backfired in recent years was against Dawson. What he did was avoid Dawson, & than when he felt the timing was right & Dawson showed signs of slipping, he went ahead & fought him. Still backfired. It was just a bad style match up for his age.

How about when Hopkins showed no interest in facing Dawson, but once Pascal beat him, he jumped all over the fight?

Your talking about a very cerebral guy. He knows who can or can't give him trouble.

When you get to a certain position in boxing, you can choose who you want to fight.

disagree with some of what you said. Shumenov is a good fighter. that was no cherry pick. Dawson wasnt a backfire...that was a mandatory that BHop ducked until he couldnt anymore. he chose Pascal because he knew he would beat him. BHop will never beat Dawson, yet he can beat everyone that gives Dawson trouble. its the styles.

he is the best scout I have ever seen. he picks apart fighters and chooses them as opponents. it is kind of a cherry pick if you look at it in those regards..stylistically. but as far as quality of opponent...these are all world class credible dudes.
