wlad deserves all the credit in the world for turning his career around after that fight...wlad nearly became a HW casualty of that era

The crazy part is that people were willing to excuse and forgive the Corie Sanders loss. Chalking it up to Sanders being a southpaw with power in his hands
Then when he lost to Brewster, people were like :dahell: are you kidding me. Even had his brother telling him maybe he should retire. For him to come back from that is nothing short of amazing

Wow, what a fight.

Klitschko basically worked the jab/hook at length on the heavy bag for 5 rounds and then tired out.

I still remember when Lennox Lewis (my 2nd favorite Boxer of all time) was retiring, Wladimir was instantly thought of as the next up

Just wish he made more of an effort to connect with the American public though

Anybody ever miss Don King being a major presence in boxing?

Granted he was a grimy MF and fukked over countless fighters and basically the Birdman of boxing. Terrible for fighters, great for fans

He put on some great cards and events that you definitely got your money's worth for.

I do. He packed his cards. He manufactured a lot of champions too, he was the master of that. As far as him fukking people over he wasn’t as dirty to fighters as people make it out to be. Some fighters had ZERO issues with him they said. Nunn recently said he never had a problem getting paid and in fact Don paid him early a lot of times. You have to realize Don was like a music exec/record label. A lot of fighters didn’t read their contracts or have good representation or kept up on what they were spending. Some fighters said they didn’t get paid, oh they did but that money was spent after Don charged it back to the limos and hotels, etc…

I would argue Luke was worse. Don King made a lot of fighters rich. Remember when Larry Holmes said he was making more money with Don stealing from him than anywhere else? Luke owned a mortgage company, auto leasing company, and put his artist in those homes and cars and billed it to them. Remember, H-Town was fukkIN BROKE! Don is the GOAT promoter to me and if he was that bad, how did he continue to sign fighters all the way up until this point? He's not worse than Bob, who got caught giving a mf a paper bag full of dough to throw a damn fight. All promoters just like record labels find a way to legally swindle people. Don had his tactics but if someone was up on their business, which most were not then it was hard for him to get away with stuff. Did yall see where Roy said him and Mike didnt get paid for their fight? I think they only got their guarantee but didnt get any of the buy money and fight grossed over $80m. They in their 50's and still gettting jerked.

Was Tyson fukked over by Don? That record label analogy is perfect.
