Since we're talking about Sweet Pea. This is one of my favorite fights from him
Got knocked down twice in this fight and abandoned his usual defensive style and actually stalked and followed the power puncher. Hurtado was awkward as fukk with power in his hands. Sweet Pea was getting hit with the right hand all night by Hurtado. But Whitaker broke Hurtado down with body punches and timely power shots

Alot of people thought this was the fight where Whitaker showed signs of age. Even though Whitaker did much better in his next fight against Oscar, no doubt this fight had a factor in how they judged/scored the Whitaker-Oscar fight

Man, I miss ESPN classic

Dangerously incompetent job by Mercante Jr at the end. He had plenty of time to stop it as Whitaker was loading up on those left hands and Mercante Jr just stood there.

Boots next fight has to have some substance.

His last performance against Karen was lack luster. Boots won that fight but Karen actually was stepping to him and had a better performance than the first fight imo. I would actually watch Karen's next fight. We were expecting Boots to have a better performance but he looked more or less the same. I feel the criticism of Bozy Ennis are fair as well though I'm a fan of sport dads personally. It's unfortunate that the Vergil Ortiz negotiations fell through this is not only a bad look for Boots but Eddie as well.

It's a mega fight on the table with no obstacles in the way. All that lip service about staying active and wanting to fight the best yet it's always some excuse why dude can't make a fight. If both promoters are on board and Turki is paying then this would be a flat out duck. Boots will look crazy in these streets if he weasel his way out of this fight
