Still...

You always give a champion a chance to recover. On top of it, it was literally the end of the round
If you want to go by that logic, technically you can stop every fight when a Boxer goes down

I think he could have given Zab some time to see where his legs were at. It was only a couple seconds before Nady stopped it. I think Tszyu would have won anyway, but would have liked to see him give a few more seconds at least.

Nady had drew criticism for letting the Trinidad-Vargas fight go on too long. The last KD was completely unnecessary as Vargas was done. Maybe Nady was worried about letting fights go on too long and was quick on the gun here.

The knockout sort of overshadows what a good fight it was.

Same thing with Vincent Pettway-Simon Brown. It had the unforgettable ending of Brown on the ground in the fencing position, but it was a really good back and forth brawl (and foul fest)

agreed...next year will be 20 years for that fight...my favorite fight of all time

It’s my choice as #1 fight of all time, and probably my most rewatched fight ever (along with Tito-Vargas).

First 7 rounds were sort of a two-way clinic on infighting. Good sustained action on the inside with lots of skills shown. Round 8 might have won Round of the Year if not for what happened in round 10.

I was on Boxing Scene back then & you wouldn't believe the sour grapes after that fight lol. "Corrales cheated" to "Weeks should've disqualified him" :heh:

Boxingfanatics was a very Mexican-oriented forum and they were pissed

“I refuse to acknowledge Corrales as the winner of the bout”
