UFC, hyper sensationalism etc has skewed perceptions of what boxing is, or was.
Most casuals (and even those are into it) don’t understand the sport anymore, they’re more inclined to look at it as fighting.
Fighting has always been part of it, but it was boxing first. Now it’s the other way around.
