Wonder how this will impact the agreement between Bud and Fundora. Looking like Fundora might get stripped regardless now

WBC is letting Spence fight so at this point it doesn't matter. But looking at the Top 15 they cold pivot to Lubin ( #9). Interesting though WBO list Jermell as WBA champ (this is as of Sept 15 2024)

The WBO already gave Fundora and Crawford an extension, like was this not known during the extension. Seems like the best options for Fundora are to fight Spence or Bud, paying step aside money to fight some top 15 WBO guy doesn't make a lot of sense. Just drop the belt for all that

Bud doesn't want the fight right now which is why he gave the thumbs up for Fundora to move on. From what it seems Bud is likely looking at 3 paths: Canelo cash out which aint happing, looking at if Tim gets the IBF this weekend, and Virgil Ortiz which is what Turki wants since Canelo doesn't seem likely.

Realistically I couldn't see why Bud WOULD NOT want Fundora vs Spence to happen because Bud vs Spence 2 is the biggest monetary fight that can be made at 154 UNLESS Spence continues the trend we see with Canelo and Tank where they straight on Turki.

That said does WBO do Champ in Recess? because I really feel Jermell Charlo could be a wild card in this whole thing unless him or Spence say eff it and go to 160. But I guess things will become clearer in the next 1-2 months,

I mentioned this before, but Sam Goodman had already ducked Inoue when he post poned the match and fighting a random Thai fighter (making Inoue fight TJ)... Now he's complaining about the money. Sam Goodman DOES NOT want to fight Inoue!

This the same dude that told Inoue inside the ring, "Fight me or vacate the belts!" :stopitslime:

Bidding war coming for the next fight of Naoya Inoue?

Open bidding for the next bout of “The Monster?”

The IBF on Tuesday ordered an October 29 purse bid for undisputed super-bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue’s mandatory defense against Australia’s Sam Goodman, with the sanctioning body reporting “an agreement could not be reached.”

Japan’s Ohashi Promotions is the promoter of record for Inoue, 28-0 (25 KOs), although powerful American promoter Top Rank also has a major stake in the four-division and undisputed 122-pound champion.

Officials at Ohashi and Top Rank either were unavailable or declined comment on the matter Tuesday morning.

The expectation, according to one boxing official, has been that plans were “full steam ahead” to stage Inoue’s mandatory defense against Goodman, 19-0 (8 KOs), on Christmas Eve in Tokyo.

The IBF had given the sides more than one month to negotiate from September 12. The parties still have time to come to an agreement before bids are due on the morning of October 29.

If they can’t strike a deal, all other major promoters are free to post a winning bid and stage a bout featuring one of the world’s most popular fighters and arguably the globe’s top pound-for-pound boxer.

Inoue, 31, is coming off a seventh-round TKO of TJ Doheny on September 3, a body shot ending what had been a lackluster showing by his standards. He’s knocked out or stopped nine consecutive opponents dating to his 2019 fight of the year versus Nonito Donaire.

Goodman, 26, has a March 2023 victory by decision over Doheny on his resume, and he also defeated Ra’eese Aleem and Miguel Flores last year to boost his rise to mandatory position.

It’s believed Inoue is angling beyond an expected victory over Goodman toward a showdown with countryman and unbeaten bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani following his successful Monday title defense.

Inoue is also expected in 2025 to move to featherweight, where the wealth of four champions are interested in meeting him.

First, a promoter needs to emerge to stage his fight with Goodman.

The IBF also on Tuesday issued tentative approval for a flyweight title eliminator between Nicaragua’s Felix Alvarado, 41-4 (35 KOs), and Argentina’s Tobias Jeremias Reyes, 16-0-1 (15 KOs), for a fight scheduled to take place in Nicaragua on December 20, according to the IBF.

Alvarado is currently the IBF’s No. 3 contender and Reyes is No. 5 – with both of the top two spots vacant under champion Angel Ayala Lardizabal (18-0, 8 KOs) of Mexico.

Signed bout contracts are due to the IBF by October 30.

Really hoping this is set without a hitch.

Going with Benavidez...but Morrell a true dark horse

Salute to them for taking the chance and not 'marinating' aka ducking each other when they're both 5 years older and used up in the game

At 168 Morrell over matched everything in front of him but I believe he was a decorated amateur but didn't get the medals like Loma or Andy Cruz? If he was a Gold Medalist I don't think anyone would question him being fastracked or not ready

LIGHT-HEAVY AMATEUR STANDOUT CONNER TUDSBURY PENS PROMOTIONAL PACT WITH MATCHROOM

COnner-1.jpg

OCTOBER 16 2024

Mancunian talent targets greatness at 175lbs

Mancunian Light-Heavyweight amateur standout Conner Tudsbury has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will make his eagerly anticipated professional debut in the new year.

The 24-year-old learnt his trade at the Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club after walking into the renowned gym as a wide-eyed eight-year-old, and went on to represent England and Team GB during a successful stint in the unpaid code – winning a bronze medal for his country at the Youth World Championships in Hungary in 2018.

Now trained by Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis at the VIP Gym in Astley alongside Matchroom stablemates Jack Catterall and Cameron Vuong, Tudsbury will be co-managed by Sam Jones and Moore as he begins his journey in the professional ranks.

“I’m excited to sign with the biggest promotional company in the world,” said Tudsbury. “I’ll be running through the Light-Heavyweight division all the way to the top. I know I carry serious power so I’ll be exciting to watch, but I’m not a one trick pony – I can box as well. We know it’s an entertainment business, so I’ll be giving the fans some devastating knockouts.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. I want to be as active as possible, work my way up and learn the tricks of the pro game. I’m explosive, exciting and unpredictable. I’ve got Sam Jones and Jamie Moore both managing me, it’s a great team.

“I trust my coaching set up. Everyone’s raving about them at the moment, people have only got good things to say about them. I’ve grown up with them, so I know they’re great people and great coaches. They’ll take me far.”

“I’m delighted to announce the signing of exciting Light-Heavyweight prospect Conner Tudsbury,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Conner had an excellent schooling at the famous Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club before excelling for England and Team GB. He possesses all of the attributes to quickly establish himself as a fan favourite – frightening power and slick skills. With Jamie, Nigel and Sam backing him Conner is in the perfect place to learn and develop. I can’t wait to get this journey underway in early 2025.”

Manager Sam Jones said: “Conner Tudsbury is going to cement his position as the best Light-Heavyweight in Britain within 18 months. He possesses frightening knockout power to complement is brilliant boxing skills so I really believe the fans will love him.”
