That was a bizarre fight. Wlad dominating every moment except when he was getting dropped. I think Peter had a similar fight against Jameel McCline when he got dropped 3 times but won a decision.

this was one of damndest gut checks...back when miguel cotto was miguel cotto

That was a classic fight, so much back and forth action.

The undercard was Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Torres, which was a classic fight.
honestly this is where wlad turned the corner...wlad was shaky baby like crazy...he won this gutcheck and he never looked back

cotto-torres is one of my favorite fights...that was a gutcheck..cotto was getting lit up like crazy by torres

This was a good fight. Those Colombian fighters were always big punchers

Remember Kendall ****'s fight with Torres? Had dude napping in the corner lol
they had 2 fights remember...torres was sleeping in the corner in the rematch..but torres won the first fight

The commentators seemed to know it too. When Wlad went down for the 3rd time, it was late in the fight and he was tired and hurt. Larry Merchant said right away it was a “moment of truth for Wladimir”. He held on and even hurt Peter in the 12th.

I love Cotto-Torres. 2005 had some great fights, as Corrales-Castillo 1 is my all time favorite.

It also had some good George Foreman moments.

Foreman said “the difference between the fighters is that Torres can take Cotto’s punches” and Cotto drops Torres at this exact moment LOL. The same thing happened during RJJ-Griffin 2.

Lampley: Torres’s corner is telling him to fake being hurt by the low blows. It sounds like a good idea

Foreman: Yeah, if you don’t have dignity

I was on another thread discussing lower/less popular weight classes and thought of Michael Carbajal. He was a fun fighter to watch. His first fight with Humberto González was one of the best of the decade, and he also closed his career with a really good fight against Jorge Arce.

Phoenix New Times wrote some long articles about him and his brother Danny, who was Michael’s manager.

Danny apparently stole money from Michael, their mother, and his ex-wife. He’s suspected of also arranging the murder of his ex-wife.

Michael Carbajal is one of my favorite lower weight class fighters. He was a big puncher & had great heart. He's pretty underrated
