Broke a young Chunky's heart (pause) when this happened. Roy was like Superman until that fight.
the super six was like the worst thing to happen to abe..he got took to school by 3 of the participants...dude couldnt run back to germany fast enough lol
but then he did pick up a couple of 168 belts after that so
correction it might never happen again on an american network...the only thing i complained about with super six was the fact ward didnt fight bute like he was expected and ran to HBO and let froch take his workThe super six was great for boxing. It will never happen again, because of fans such as yourself that complain about how long it was, and prefer fights to marinate for years.
Please explain what is this sense of urgency to declare a winner if we are getting solid fights? Sure there were replacements, but there was no way all of those guys were going to last.
Without the super 6, someone like Abraham probably ends his career with 1 or 2 loses, with the perception being he was better than he truly was. With the super 6, we saw who he truly was.
In fact, let’s take someone like Ward. The boxing world was kind of late to realizing how good he was at the time, Without the super 6, Ward continues beating guys, the boxing world becomes aware of his greatness, and then he becomes a “high risk/low reward” type of fighter before he finally breaks through. The super six allowed Ward to bypass that phase that most boxers of his caliber go through.

super six was great but a round robin concept didnt work as well with 6 fighters in it....showtime perfected that with the 4 man bantamweight tournament they held a couple years after...WBSS perfected what super 6 did with single elimination and expanding to 8
tournaments arent supposed to last forever,..the super six goal was to get a unified WBA/WBC 168 champ in the finalRound robin > single elimination
The whole point is to consistently get good matchups
whats the problem?San Antonio?!
