Jermall Charlo: Nobody Cares About Demetrius Andrade For His Fights, Or His Belt

Jack Jones once beat Patsy Tunney in a boxing record 276-round fight in 1825.

It appears that the back-and-forth war of words between Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade will last longer than the 4.5-hour match from nearly 200 years ago without a single punch being thrown.

The WBC middleweight champion Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) took his turn on the mic on the PBC Podcast to remind everyone and proclaim that the WBO middleweight champion Andrade is not a worthy opponent.

“What I do is what I do for a living, and that’s fight,” said Charlo. “They’re doing a great job of keeping him active, I guess. He has great technique. He’s a durable guy, who can be in with a big puncher like me. He has one of those awkward styles that I don’t really see as a threat.

“[Sergiy] Derevyanchenko posed a bigger threat than Andrade probably would. But being in a southpaw stance, it’s not so much about styles, it’s how we can get those match-ups to be made between two world champions and two unification bouts. It’s something I’ve always been interested in. Man, we’re not dodging anybody, we’re not ducking anybody, we don’t pick the fights, and we don’t handle the agreements. You guys got to understand that. It’s part of boxing. They’re watering the sport down. I care about Jermall Charlo … They ain’t ever going to give my credit, so I’ll fight who they put in front of me.”

The two-division titlist Charlo will next step into the ring to face Juan Macias Montiel (22-4-2, 22 KOs) on June 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston on Showtime.

A bout between Charlo, 30, and Andrade, 33, remains one of the most palatable matchups in boxing, but it simply cannot be made due to both fighters competent on different platforms, and the money not being right. Andrade has hinted that his promoter Eddie Hearn needs to front more money to a future credible opponent so that he could land a career-defining fight

“I got a big family, big life. [Andrade] ain’t living nothing like me. The opportunity is for him. I’m the lotto ticket in this ballpark,” said Charlo. “Nobody knows Demetrius Andrade. Nobody knows when he fights, and nobody cares when he fights. He ain’t getting no views. Nobody cares. He ain’t like that when it comes, so he’s just talking.

“The only thing that separates Andrade from the rest of the division is Andrade slipped up on a title that nobody cares about. They want to see Jermall Charlo fight the best in the world.”

im sorry but in no way can mall speak like this with his history at middleweight not one bit :heh:

your stars are but dust on my shoes
Tryna get into boxing. What are good podcasts for me to start listening to?

SI Boxing w/ Chris Mannix will keep you up to date with the headlines and rumors.

Pug & Copp Boxing Show basically the same as SI Boxing.

Porter Way Podcast w/ Shawn Porter. Podcast helmed by Shawn and his friends who provide previews and reactions of fights. Naturally a much more humorous and laid back podcast compared to the first two.
