Missed the part where everyone was calling for Valdez vs Shakur. Looks like Shakur thinks he's a hotter name than he really is.
He doesn't have a belt at 130 like the winner of Herring vs Frampton will have and beating him still wouldn't give as much bragging rights and money as beating Loma or Davis. If he thinks he's a clearly amore interesting opponent for Valdez than any of those who he mentioned then I have bad news for him.

It's possible that Stevenson will be better than all the mentioned guys down the line but he's not there yet where everyone is calling for him vs Valdez, barely anyone calls for Shakur fights period, his momentum that he got after the Olympics is gone now. It's not just his fault cause his style isn't necessarily a "crowd pleaser" but fact is Garcia, Tank, Lopez and to a lesser extent even Haney surpassed his hype, are more talked about. We'll see how it gos in the long run

Can i get an article or something explaining what Richard Schaefer did to Oscar

schaefer was GB's CEO

the big thing was schaefer wanted to work with haymon and was tired of deal with arum; oscar wanted to continue working with arum (the reason why today GB and TR fights that need to happen for the most part..do happen)

GB had the prospects..part of the reason why 2013 was a great year for boxing esp on the Showtime front was because of them and they were starting to outshine Arum and TR in quality fights

schaefer had the contract info of every fighter on the roster..this was around the time oscar was having his personal "issues" and schaefer started gutting GB

this article at least explained the outcome..now the reason why boxing in 2014 took such a dive esp after 2013 and esp on showtime was because haymon wanted to preserve them for the PBC launch..a lot of fighters that became prominent for them

Sources: De La Hoya, Schaefer reach settlement

the big effect was schaefer could not promote or benefit directly from what he did for a certain amount of years per lawsuit..thats been up..the only reason why GB survived was 1. they had fade bringers on their roster 2. they had boxing minds where it needed to be and 3. canelo's contract they didn't want to deal with..so he was able to rebuild as canelo's stature grew..which is ironic since he became bigger than ALL the fighters schaefer poached..but that would involve me going into a direction more suitable for some PBC ranting

schaefer though that little action prolly cost him his rep it looks like..GB rebuilt, TR is off limits..and Floyd and Haymon who he called friends :heh: dont really fukk with him like that on the business front (i wonder why :heh:)...the only notable thing he did after was he played a part in the creation of the WBSS

De La Hoya was referring to when Al Haymon made a deal with then-Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer to buy the company with the plan to have it serve as the promotional entity for the Premier Boxing Champions outfit he would found.

Ultimately, De La Hoya decided he did not want to make the nine-figure deal and wanted to keep Golden Boy. It led to Schaefer’s acrimonious exit from Golden Boy and De La Hoya wound up in litigation with him and Haymon before reaching a settlement in 2015.

Under the settlement, Golden Boy received an eight-figure payout and cut ties with numerous top fighters that it promoted who were managed or advised by Haymon, including Deontay Wilder, Errol Spence Jr., Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Marcos Maidana, Adrien Broner, Erislandy Lara, Daniel Jacobs, Abner Mares, Andre Berto, Robert Guerrero and several others.

De La Hoya: Breakup With Canelo 'Literally Hurt My Feelings' - Vows To Rebuild Golden Boy

There is probably a full, in depth article, but here's a quick excerpt.

Jermaine Franklin vs. Stephan Shaw Ring City Card Announced For April 22

Ring City USA, the new sports media startup that debuted its Thursday night boxing series in November 2020, will host its next live event from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. on Thursday, April 22. The event, which will be headlined by a matchup of two undefeated American heavyweights, will be televised on NBC Sports Network (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) with bonus undercard action streaming live around the world on Twitch. Armed Forces Network Europe and Pacific will make the broadcast available to U.S. Forces serving overseas on AFN TV.

The nation’s most notable military service academy will host a full evening of boxing action headlined by Ring City’s first ever heavyweight main event when two undefeated American heavyweights Jermaine Franklin (20-0, 13 KOs) and Stephan Shaw (14-0, 10 KOs) meet in a ten-round fight.

Franklin, who hails from Saginaw, Mich., will return from an 18-month layoff to face his toughest and most experienced challenger to date. Franklin, 27, notched three impressive decision victories in 2019, including a win over fellow top American heavyweight Jerry Forrest.

Shaw, 28, will take another step in his development as he faces the first unbeaten fighter of his professional career in Franklin. Born and raised in Saint Louis, Shaw has flashed devastating power with all 10 of his career knockouts coming within four rounds.

“This will be the historic first-time professional bouts will occur at West Point,” said Ray Barone, Army West Point Boxing Coach.

“We've been asked before, but never has a boxing event been brought to us the way Ring City and NBC has. We want to showcase the cadets. We want to demonstrate that amateur boxing when conducted properly is safe. And we hope that this will become an annual event.”

Ring City USA will pay homage to the host venue and its rich history by honoring current and former service members. The academy’s history is evidenced by 10 National Boxing Championships and a curriculum that mandates all cadets participate in the school’s renowned boxing program. Ring City will highlight the West Point Boxing Team by presenting intramural scrimmages on the undercard.
