Members of Evander Holyfield's team say Mike Tyson has rejected a $25 million guarantee to fight Holyfield on May 29 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The two sides had been in talks for months about getting Tyson and Holyfield in the ring, after Tyson fought an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. last year that was considered a success.
some bullshyt moves, they wanted a real boxing fight. Mike wants exhibition,. lol.who the hell was going to be airing this that would get mike a 25 million guarantee? this wasnt an exhibition?
LOL Porter and Ortiz are both #1 and #2 under the WBO.. If these fights don’t happen it’s literally on them. Not Bud. Spence on camera talking about “Why wouldn’t I take the easy road” “I need to get all other belts in division before we can fight” “60/40 70/40 80/20 or whatever we give him.. But somehow people are blaming Crawford for these fights not happening.. Thurman was on record calling Crawford belt the WBNo belts and that he not interested in the fight.. Same with Porter.. Until they both lost their belts LOL. Now they’re pricing themselves out and giving off the perception they want the fight when they really don’t..I don’t blame Bud for moving how he’s moves when it comes to themTBF a top fighter usually ain't fighting an up and coming prospect unless they have to. Porter basically said he ain't fighting Ortiz or Ennis either when he got asked. I don't like it but that's kind of normal in boxing. Charlo vs Lubin type of fights where a dude give a prospect a fight when they ain't got any major belts or big wins are outliers for the most part
that being said i thought Bud would jump at that opportunity really. Could have knocked his ass out in Dallas and called Spence out from his hometown afterward
Jaime Munguia-Maciej Sulecki Middleweight Clash Targeted For April 24

Jaime Munguia has his next middleweight assignment in hand, even if not in line with the targeted next fight in his career.
Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that the former junior middleweight titlist will next face Poland’s Maciej Sulecki. The bout will take place April 24, live on DAZN from a location to be determined in El Paso. Texas.
The possibility of Sulecki emerging as the next opponent for Munguia was first reported by Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix.
The event will mark the 2021 debut for Tijuana’s Munguia (36-0, 29KOs), who has since collected two stoppage wins at middleweight. Both took place in 2020, having stopped Ireland’s Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan last January and coming out the pandemic to conquer 2008 Olympian and veteran contender Tureano Johnson last October.
Prior to moving up in weight, Munguia served as the WBO junior middleweight titlist beginning with a 4th round knockout of Sadam Ali in May 2018. Five successful title defenses were crammed into a 14-month period, ending with a 4th round knockout of Ghana’s Patrick Allotey in Sept. 2019 before vacating the title later that year.
Following the win over Johnson, there were talks of Munguia next facing Kazakhstan’s Gennadiy Golovkin (41-1-1, 35KOs), who remains without an opponent for the next defense of his IBF middleweight title. The two sides entered talks shortly after Golovkin effortlessly turned away unbeaten mandatory challenge Kamil Szeremeta (21-1, 5KOs) after seven one-sided rounds last December in Hollywood, Florida.
Hopes of a head-on collision this spring were eventually dashed as such talks stalled. Munguia was then forced to move on to other opponents for the sake of remaining active, with the nine-plus months between wins over O’Sullivan and Johnson marking the longest inactive stretch of his eight-year pro career.
The search eventually led to Sulecki (29-2, 11KOs), a former title challenger from Warsaw, Poland. The 31-year old contender has only lost at the highest level, dropping 12-round decisions to former middleweight titlist Daniel Jacobs in April 2018 and reigning WBO middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade in June 2019.
Sulecki has since picked up a 10-round shutout win over Sasha Yengoyan in his most recent performance last August.
Munguia is currently the number-one contender in the WBC and WBO middleweight rankings, while in the top six among all four major sanctioning bodies. Sulecki is ranked number-four by the WBC. In between the two are: Sergiy Derevyanchnko, who is coming off of a 12-round loss to unbeaten WBC middleweight titlist Jermall Charlo; and Liam Williams, who is next facing Andrade in a mandatory WBO middleweight title fight on April 17 in Hollywood, Florida.
The scenario leaves room for a Munguia-Sulecki clash to serve as a title eliminator, though such information has not been made available as this goes to publish.
This reminds me, De La Hoya was on the Mannix podcast and mentioned that him and Bob talked about a Munguía Berlanga fight.
