The first win was pretty clear. I didn’t think he should have rematched him, but it was probably the biggest payday back then so I can’t blame him.

Agreed

Didn't Pac's team make them fight again at 130 instead of 135 which is where Morales was fighting at? Or was that for the 3rd fight because I don't remember? You're right though the money was probably way too good to pass on & also the pride factor from El Terrible lol

Saad probably the toughest light heavyweight but those leg kicks are harder than anything you feel in boxing. Leg is several times the size of the arm and the kick travels faster
Poor Saad Muhammad, dude was shot to shyt by this time, losing to everyone after a tough career filled with wars, this fight is a few month after his retirement probably took it for the money.
Don't get me wrong, not saying that he'd won in his prime I just don't like how MMA hoodwinked the public by inviting over the hill guys like Saad Muhammad and Toney to mixed rules fights where they had no clue at all what they are facing, basically set them up to fail to market their sport.

Things changed though, nowadays grappling isn't new to anyone, everybody seen it at least on TV, you can't just spam double leg takedowns and leg kicks anymore in hope that you take the fight to the ground and your opponent hasn't ever seen a grappling match. Though I don't follow it close as far as I see from the start where MMA was mostly dominated by submission grappling, by now the vast majority of the guys adjusted and mostly avoid ground fighting. While back in those days it was all gravy for pure grapplers, now they usually get checked and either outpointed or knocked out if they don't have good stand up skills (by MMA standard)

Imagine going through the career he had just to end up where he did. And people wonder why a ton of athletes aint going into boxing at all or staying in European countries getting a decent paycheck for amateurs.

Saad Muhammad was a true all time great...so many wars...one of his wars would be enough to end an ordinary fighter's career...there needs to be a movie made about his life
