Close fight. Score cards were bullshyt. No robbery, could have gone either way. The open scoring took the drama away.

I will say this. If I was Floyd I would fight him ASAP. Kid looks like he is getting better with each fight. I see Floyd capitalizing on the fact that dude doesn't fight every round and he gasses after 6rds.

who came up with open scoring?

WBC

To those saying trout won hands down. He couldn't win that fight off of the jab alone. He should have mixed it up more. Again Score cards were bullshyt but you fighting in somebody else's city you got to bring it. The knock down was the difference.

I love people using "Trout didn't hurt him" "Canelo was landing the better shots and slipping punches" as justification for why Canelo won.

Worst reasons ever. This is BOXING and they have ROUNDS for a reason.

No doubt over the whole fight it looks like Canelo won, but there's the small matter of the SCORECARDS.

(sorry for using conspiracy CAPS for words but it seems people are missing the point of BOXING.)

I don't think Canelo could beat him in September. But in another couple years, this matchup might be a toss-up. Alvarez is looking better and better with every fight.

In another couple years Floyd will be damn near 40. I think expectations for Floyd are too high as it is, he doesn't need to be fighting cats 20-25 lbs heavier than he is at this stage.

Man, Trout won that fight clearly off of ring generalship. He out-boxed and out-worked Canelo for the majority of a lot rounds. I don't like to use the expose word a lot, but Canelo's stamina always been suspect and Trout really put it on full display during the fight. Canelo looked tired from all those body shots and looked just plain winded fighting in Berto type spurts for mad portions of a lot of the rounds. I couldn't see Canelo winning more than 4 or 5 rounds really.

With all that said, He's the biggest logical choice to face Floyd in Sept. The Manny fight is dead, Martinez is too big and realistically never had to happen, that really just leaves Canelo. Dude has a true following and sells tickets and has an exciting style. That fight can prolly do close to 2 mil ppv sales.

Garcia and his fukkery is prolly the 2nd most sellable fight after that tho. I wouldn't mind that fight, but he would really have to dominate Zab.

Glad to see someone actually watched the fight

Trout hurt dude goin to the body in the 6th he shoulda fought like that the whole damn fight....instead he throws bullshyt N lets a gassed Canelo land the harder shots

Cottos bytch ass is next for Canelo in Sept on PPV

May day 2014 Floyd vs Ginger:takedat:

If Cotto ends up fighting the kid and goes back to the body attack he used to employ with the left hook Canello would be in trouble

nikka you ain't gotta agree with me. I know what the fukk I saw.

I'm not saying it was the biggest robbery ever or some shyt like that. I felt Trout did enough to take it and explained why. Canleo kept it close and competitive though and made it a good fight.

Canelo really just won this fight off of showy combinations and spurts. That shyt dazzled the judges and some fans into thinking he was doing more than he actually was.

nikkas don't know what to look for when they watching a boxing match so they just keep count of who lands all the big punches and nothing else. :snoop:

Yep. People are expecting 27 year old Floyd to show up or something. He showed a lot of fatigue against Cotto his damn self for basically the first time in his career, and is considerably less mobile and speedy than he used to be. Folks are saying Floyd schools Canelo, I don't see that at all. This immobile incarnation of Mayweather isn't schooling a man who's going to outweigh him by 20+, younger, stronger, and with the power and skill of Saul at this point in his career. Floyd might beat him, but he wouldn't dominate him or starch him or some shyt. People also underestimate Canelo's skill level for some reason. Is he prime Pep? No. But he's not David Telesco or some shyt either. The stamina, or lack thereof, wouldn't be as big an issue for Alvarez because Floyd fights at a much more deliberate pace than Trout, and is stationary now.

I think this fight gets made or washes out depending on how Floyd looks against Guerrero. I expect Floyd to win, but I do think Guerrero is going to do "surprisingly" well in this fight. I expect Floyd to spend a lot of time with his back against the ropes -- looking to catch Guerrero with those uppercuts that Berto was hitting him with, and for Guerrero to take the punches well. I'll just say this, after this fight, I expect Ellerbe and them to be less gung-ho about a Canelo fight; and if it does get made, it's a pick 'em. This could easily be one of those fights in boxing history where a young guy thoroughly supplants an older and aging fighter. One of those fights people look back in retrospect years from now and wonder, "Why did people even think the older guy was going to lick the youngin'?

So landing the more effective shots and slipping punches aren't part of boxing? Trout was landing a lot of jabs but wasn't following through with the hooks and upper cuts the way Canelo was. Trout missed a lot of punches because Canelo was ducking and using good head movement. Part of BOXING is about avoiding getting hit it's called DEFENSE.

You judge a fight off
1. Clean punches
2. Effective aggressiveness
3. Defense
4. Ring generalship

Canelo OBVIOUSLY had the cleaner punches erry memorable punch landed was the gingers

Effective Aggressiveness....I wouldn't call throwing 10 pitty pat punches N landing 1 very effective:beli:

Canelo had his hands at his fukking waist standing still making Trout miss multiple times let that shyt marinate for a second

Trout had Canelo gassed by the 4th round...Trout had this nikka fighting 30% of each round N still could not CLEARLY win a round besides the 6th

You ain't goin win a fight throwing bullshyt punches wit nothing on them....while the nikka you fighting is landing hard significant punches N slipping them bullshyt punches making a show N fool out of you
