I never wanna see mikey garcia fight again after that bullshyt he did vs spence. Dude didn't even TRY. Once he realized he was outmatched he completely gave up. Smh. Dude lost all of his hype because of that fight. A win over Danny would be much bigger. Especially if he knocks him out, which is highly possible. Keith had danny stunned a couple times but didn't follow up. Manny won't do the same. I think danny will have a lot of issues with mannys speed and movement. If danny was hesitant vs Keith and porter, he's gonna be a sitting duck against manny. Prolly be too worried about getting caught and let manny rack up points.

Jesse Hart vs. Joe Smith Official For January 11, Hard Rock Live
By Random Hits

Published On Tue Nov 19, 2019, 03:21 PM EST

This one is personal. Jesse “Hollywood” Hart, born and bred in Philadelphia, will take on Joe Smith Jr. Saturday, Jan. 11 from Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in the 10-round main event, which will kick off the 2020 Top Rank on ESPN schedule.

It was Smith, the union construction worker from Long Island, who knocked Philadelphia legend Bernard Hopkins through the ropes and into retirement in December 2016. For Hart, who considers Hopkins a mentor, this fight is more than a step towards a world title shot.

ESPN and ESPN Deportes will televise Hart-Smith Jr. and a co-feature beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, with undercard action slated for ESPN+ beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Star Boxing, tickets priced at $100, $60, $40 and $25 (not including applicable fees) go on sale Friday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. ET and can be purchased by visiting www.ticketmaster.com and www.hardrockhotelatlanticcity.com.

“When you have two fighters who can punch like heck, anything can happen,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “We believe Jesse Hart has everything it takes to become a world champion, but Joe Smith Jr. can turn the lights out at any moment. This is a sensational main event to kick off the Top Rank schedule in 2020.”

“This is personal. Bernard inspired me to be what I became,” Hart said. “I wouldn’t be right if didn’t avenge that defeat. I can’t move forward unless I beat him. This is a Philly thing. It’s more personal than business for me. I want a world title shot at light heavyweight, but I have to get through this guy first.”

“I am back in the gym and feel great,” Smith said. “I am focused and ready to bring everything I have. Jesse Hart might want to make this personal, but I didn’t even know who he was before this fight was brought up. I am ready for this. It is going to be a great night."

"I look forward to a thrilling, fan-friendly fight in Atlantic City on ESPN Jan. 11,” said Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia, Smith’s promoter. “Jesse Hart is Philly tough, but I love watching Joe Smith Jr. fight as his amazing punching power always puts him 10 seconds away from a KO win. It will be a rocking night at the Hard Rock Hotel."

Hart (26-2, 21 KOs) is making his triumphant return to Atlantic City, where he is 7-0 with 7 knockouts. He twice challenged for the super middleweight world title previously held by Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, but he came up short via a pair of close decision defeats. Following the second Ramirez loss in December 2018, Hart moved up to the light heavyweight ranks and announced his arrival with a 10-round decision victory over Sullivan Barrera on the Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz undercard.

Smith (24-3, 20 KOs) was boxing’s “Cinderella Man” in 2016, upsetting Andrzej Fonfara via first-round TKO to earn the shot at Hopkins. He proved the Fonfara win was no fluke, as he bullied Hopkins around the ring before a combination knocked him through the ropes. Smith is coming off a decision loss to WBA light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol, although he buzzed Bivol on several occasions in the championship rounds.

this is a good fight...crossroads fight...hart really can't fukk around with joe or he gets ko'ed

Sergey Kovalev Felony Assault Trial Postponed to January 6
By Jake Donovan

Published On Tue Nov 19, 2019, 01:46 PM EST

Sergey Kovalev will end 2019 without a title around his waist. On the brighter side, he will also spend the rest of the year away from a courtroom.

A prior trial date of Nov. 25 for the former three-time light heavyweight titlist has now been rescheduled for Jan. 6, 2020 at the Superior Court of California in San Bernardino County, according to a court document which has been obtained by BoxingScene.com. The ruling came during a pre-trial hearing on Monday, which revealed the new court date along with vacating a similar pre-trial hearing previously scheduled to take place this Friday in San Bernardino County.

Kovalev has been ordered to stand trial for charges of felony assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury. The case dates back to Kovalev’s arrest last June in Big Bear, California.

According to court documents, the alleged victim—Jamie Frontz, who has also filed an $8 million lawsuit against the boxer—reported to authorities of her being attacked by the boxer after rejected his advances at a party held earlier in the evening. Kovalev and one of his friends allegedly followed Frontz to her cabin, the location of the alleged attack where she claims to have suffered a broken nose, a concussion and a displaced disk in her neck after being punched in the face.

Bail was posted for the boxer four days later, as he was freed on a $50,000 surety bond which remains active. Kovalev entered a Not Guilty plea during a disposition hearing last August, coming 23 days after his upset knockout loss to Eleider Alvarez in their first fight.

The aforementioned loss to Alvarez was one of four fights in which Kovalev (34-4-1, 29KOs) has participated since the alleged incident took place, though not coming to light until less than a month prior to his scheduled rematch with Alvarez, with TMZ Sports breaking the story.

Kovalev went on to win the rematch and regain his title, which he successfully defended in an11th round knockout of previously unbeaten Anthony Yarde (18-1, 17KOs) this past August in Chelyabinsk, Russia. The bout came a pivotal development surrounding the alleged assault, when the state made its case to move forward with charges.

“We conducted a preliminary hearing on April 4th, 2019 where Mr. Kovalev was held to answer, meaning a judge determined that there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial,” Jason Liso, lead deputy district attorney for San Bernardino County told BoxingScene.com at the time. “Mr. Kovalev is charged with California Penal Code Section 245(a)(4) as a felony, which has a maximum punishment of four years in the state prison.”

Kovalev was ordered to appear in court on Oct. 3, at which time Judge Dwight W. Moore originally ordered the Nov. 25 jury trial date to begin. By that point, the 36-year old Russian boxer had already secured an eight-figure payday to face reigning World middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on Nov. 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The DAZN-streamed headliner ended with Kovaelv—down on two scorecards and even on a third through 10 rounds—land on the wrong end of a highlight reel 11th round knockout.

The postponed trial date is perhaps a much needed victory for Kovalev, although by no means a sign of his legal troubles going away.

“Mr. Kovalev is still facing criminal charges, and is currently scheduled to stand trial,” Liso confirmed to BoxingScene.com.

You know, everyone said Mikey was crazy for fighting Spence in his first fight, and sure enough he got demolished. Mikey needs to acclimate to 147 the best he can before he tries to win a title there, otherwise I'll just call it a shameless cash grab.

On Danny, I still think Pacquiao's footwork and handspeed is all bad for Garcia, who has shown a lack of punch output in key moments. Nonetheless, Manny at 40 is still slowing down and vulnerable, so I expect any top Welter to have a legit shot of beating Manny.

If Spence would have stopped Mikey like a proper welterweight boogeyman is supposed to do, we wouldn't even be talking about dude fighting Pac. :snoop:

They need to gtfoh giving Mikey high profile fights after Spence.

Dude could give Manny a fight, but not without 2/3 fights at 47 first
Nah he needs to get his ass outta 147, it's not his division. If that Spence fight didn't make that obvious Idk what would.
If he'd stay at 147 after that fight, that would basically confirm he's only in this for the money and he doesn't even care he can't be the best of the division he competes in.
