Canelo has to have the best defense he ever had in this fight, if he is very sharp he can roll under or slip Kovalev's hard ass straight punches and use it to inch forward toward Kovalev's body. I agree that he has to get inside and target the body.

Still questionable though how much power he will have at 175? Yarde hurt Kovalev but Yarde is a big puncher at 175. Ward and Alvarez hurt Kovalev too, they are not huge punchers but naturally bigger men than Canelo nevertheless, especially Alvarez. Canelo has pretty good power at 160 nothing spectacular though, curious if he has enough to be able to stop Kovalev with bodyshots.

Another thing is how Canelo can take a hard hitting 175ers power? Canelo seems to have a great chin but divisions exist for a reason, I think dudes like Kovalev, Beterbiev are bigger punchers than Jacobs or even GGG. He will have to get hit as few as possible, sounds obvious but it's really important here as he can't allow himself to just eat some big shots while stalking.

I'm not sure about the gassing part.
Both seem to be at this stage where they gas a little in the mid rounds then get a second win in the last few rounds. For different reasons though, Canelo just never had a really good stamina (he worked on it but still) and Kovalev is an alcoholic.
