Racism is about power and having the ability to discriminate and keep races down. What Joshua said was his belief but has kept nobody from succeeding. That’s not racist it’s his honest belief and most people on earth believe their race is better than other unless they’ve been brain washed by white people. Of course Joshua’s image is manufactured, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him speak honest outside of the Amir Khan situation.
I've seen this theory discussed previously, and while I think it raises good points, I don't think it actually clarifies what a racist or racism is. For one, this discussion usually revolves around a White American-Black American binary, which leaves a lot of questions about everyone else. White Americans are racist cause they hold more power, Black Americans can't be racist cause they don't hold any power, and everyone else is sort of racist depending on the circumstance? I mean, the definition of racism is already so clear:
noun
- prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
It's easy to tell when someone is racist without even having to know what their background is. There is no grey area, if you don't believe in equality, then you are racist.
My whole point is racist rhetoric will never change regardless of who says it or where it's said. I'll always defend Joshua or any man who shows racial or ethnic pride. What I will not defend is a man saying their race is superior, because that insinuates that there's an inferior, which is not only fukkin stupid, but it also carries real life negative consequences.
