The thing about Wilder that people don't get is..and even Wilder has mentioned it a couple of times in his long interviews....he just knows how to fight. We can't see what he's seeing through his eyes even though from the outside his skillet looks super basic. His boxing IQ is off the CHARTS. It has to be.

Some people just have that natural instinct, his is extreme. Combine it with being a full time pro boxer for the last decade or so...and I can see how it happens.

Rare though.

Instinct and Boxing IQ are two different things. You can score high on one and low on the other. Wilder is definitely a natural fighter. His instincts and unpredictability is top notch, but with that said his boxing IQ is leprechaun in the hood low.

If his boxing IQ was higher, he would have changed up on that right hand a lot sooner against Fury. It's when he made the adjustment to throw it lower is when he had success. Your boxing IQ can't be off the charts if its taking you 12 rds to land your money shot.

Boxing IQ is Floyd looping the right hand around Cotto's guard when throwing it straight wasn't working.

I'd be embarrassed if my Coach said what Brelad said about Wilder. You a grown ass man with a whole Bronze medal with the skills of a pre teen. Got damn :mjlol:

Maybe I should have said fight IQ. Wilder can usually land the right.

I think it may also be a case of Fury's defense being off the charts.

Boxing IQ/Fighting IQ same shyt. The faster you can make adjustments the higher your boxing IQ goes up.

Fury's defense wasn't even off the charts. Dude wasn't even in his best shape. :hhh:

Wilder just wasn't used to someone who knew how to avoid his right hand. Those sparring sessions with Haye are prolly the only time Wilder saw someone actually slip or roll his bombs. He prolly never had to make a mid fight adjustment until the Fury fight.

Boxing IQ doesn't grow overnight. Its an accumulation of experience. Wilder for all his fights, still lacked that experience.

guy is like ngannou with better conditioning. Absolute killers with the fight night stats turnt to max but just fall short on the experience. Imagine wilder under stewart from a young age and he was willing to follow :wow:
Stevenson and hearns knew how to land their right hand bombs under him

Exactly and people were actually trying to avoid those bombs.

80% of Wilder resume is filled with nikkas that just shelled up, stood in front of him, or got caught by surprise. Its hard to level up fighting those types of guys unless your training and sparring is on point.

I'm beginning to think Wilder is on some Lebron shyt and can't be coached. With the type of resources he has, we should have seen some improvement by now.

yeah it seems in the fury fight when breland was tellin fury to throw that right he wasn't listening.
Breland said "All I can do is tell him what to do, if he don't do it, that's on him".

Listening to this video made me understand Wilder even more. Dude has an ATG ego, but in reality is a guy with jobber skills that has a massive trump card.

You can tell he likes to hear himself talk. He says knocking people out is as simple as an on and off switch for him. But he couldn't press that button fast enough in the Washington fight where we saw him look clumsy and get outboxed for 4 rds. He tries to come off like he humble, but he not really.

That Falcon Punch isnt gonna work against the cream of the crop. I know he started late and all...It’s just crazy how to me was an Olympian coupled with his athleticism and frame , to be so horrible/sloppy technique-wise. It’s too late to really refine his skills at least from our perspective, but being an Ernie Shavers class puncher and undefeated world Champ is not bad from a Small Town Kid From Bama :ehh:
