If those are the numbers that were offered to him, then there's probably more money stood to be made. I can't fault him because I don't know what Showtime is offering him. I understand it's frustrating as a fan but I don't think even Wilder's team is turning down guaranteed money like that unless they see a substantial amount coming elsewhere.

The money being offered to him is more so based on a specific fight, which is Wilder vs AJ.

He's making the assumption that they would both stay undefeated.

I'd have to take it.

Per ESPN

DAZN offered Wilder two versions of a deal from which he could pick, two sources with knowledge of the offers told ESPN.

One deal, the sources said, was for three fights worth $100 million. The first fight would have been a $20 million payday to fight Breazeale this spring. The second fight would have been for $40 million to fight Joshua in the fall for the undisputed title with the third fight being an immediate rematch with Joshua for another $40 million -- even if Wilder, in the worst-case scenario, had gotten knocked out, even in the first round, of the first fight by Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs), 29, of England.

The second version of the offer, one of the sources said, would have paid Wilder $20 million to fight Breazeale, $40 million for the Joshua fight, a $20 million fight against another opponent to be determined followed by another $40 million for a rematch with Joshua in the fourth fight.

In addition, one of the sources said the first fight with Joshua was guaranteed to be in the United States with DAZN willing to have the second fight in Joshua's native United Kingdom, even though the time zone would put a live stream of the fight on in the late afternoon instead of closer to the preferred time of 11:30 p.m. ET, which is when most major fights go off for U.S. broadcasts.

After Fury signed a co-promotional deal with Top Rank last month to bring his fights to ESPN platforms, the much-anticipated rematch with Wilder, which was close to being finalized, fell apart because Wilder also rejected an offer from Top Rank for $12.5 million for a summer fight against an opponent to be determined followed by $20 million to fight Fury again on ESPN PPV in the fall.
The last part is disingenuous as hell but its Rafael so i'm not surprised. The fight with Fury fell through because Arum and TR swooped in and got involved at the last hour when the rematch was pretty close to be agreed to for May, at the Barclays, on Showtime PPV.

Then why is everyone acting brand new? Two undefeated hard hitting heavyweights in their prime is worth $40 million? Wilder alone could take home $60 million for one fight.

You gay ass nikkas doing anything to excuse for Wilder for being a bytch and ducking that action, but were vigorously calling AJ a duck after a bullshyt offer. Wilder was trying to call the shots to a dude with more belts and a box office draw. I don't wanna hear or read any of you nikkas opinions on boxing ever again

good fight for the dmv...might put that on my radar of fights to attend if PBC gets the undercard right

Jarrett Hurd vs. Julian Williams To Land in Washington D.C

By Jake Donovan

Not since he was a prospect has Jarrett ‘Swift’ Hurd known the feeling of fighting at home.

That will finally change on May 11.

While a venue is still being finalized, Hurd’s upcoming unified title defense versus Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams will land in the Washington D.C. area. The PBC on Fox headliner will mark his first in the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) area since his 13th pro fight, hitting the road from 2015 onward for every ring appearance since then.

“There’s so much going on here in the DMV, so to know I get to defend my world titles here is a blessing,” Hurd (23-0, 16KOs) told BoxingScene.com. “Boxing in this area hasn’t been this big in a long time. It’s such a good feeling to bring my titles home.”

Hurd, who hails from the D.C. suburb of Acokeek, Md., fought exclusively in the greater D.C. area on the way up, with his first 13 pro bouts all taking place close to home. His last such appearance came in Nov. ’14, scoring a 1st round knockout in the nation’s capital.

It wasn’t until a year later when he was introduced to the rest of the boxing world, scoring a knockout win over Frank Galarza in their Nov. ‘15 Showtime-televised matchup of unbeaten prospects. Every one of his fights since then has been televised, all coming with the formation of adviser Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) circuit.

The closest any of them have come to being a home game took place on the Nov. ’16 televised undercard of a Spike TV show in Philadelphia, ironically the hometown of Williams (26-1-1, 16KOs) who enters his second career title fight.

Hurd won his first major title in his very next fight, rallying to knock out Tony Harrison in the 9th round of their Fox-televised vacant 154-pount title clash in Birmingham, Alabama.

Three successful defenses have followed, including a 12-round split decision win over Erislandy Lara last April which was hailed by the Boxing Writers Association of America as the 2018 Fight of the Year. He entered the fight with an injured shoulder, undergoing rotator cuff surgery before returning to the ring with a 3rd round knockout of England’s Jason Welborn last December.

Plans at the time called for a future unification bout with then-unbeaten titlist Jermell Charlo, who couldn’t quite keep up his end of the bargain as he suffered a shocking—and disputed—points loss to Harrison three weeks later. A rematch between the two is being planned for this summer, leaving Hurd with an optional defense—and now a home game.

“I’m one of (four) world champions in the DMV area,” notes Hurd of a region also boasting 130-pound titlist Gervonta Davis, long-reigning featherweight title claimant Gary Russell Jr. and 168-pound titlist Franchon Crews Dezurn. “Then you got (former two-division titlist) Lamont Peterson this weekend (versus Sergey Lipinets, live on FS1 from Oxon Hill, Md.). Fighting at home is an honor but I treat like I have for all 23 fights before this.

We’re preparing for this fight as usual, 12-round prepared. It’s easy to get caught up in fighting locally, being around people you know and can come with a lot of distractions, everyone wanting to be involved. So we’re focused on (Williams), not on the event. It might feel different once we’re closer to the fight. But right now, we’re training for Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams, who’s coming (to D.C.) looking to take my titles and my unbeaten record.”

Glad to see we've all finally come around and realised it's Wilder who's ducking. Welcome to the real world guys:salute:

I swear Wilder must be borderline retarded. I actually feel sorry for him in a way, he's clearly a very stupid man being taken advantage of by Al Haymon. Damn.

Eh, i think he's wyling but not DUCKING,. When i try and look at it from his POV, i'm assuming they want to negotiate a one fight deal with a certain % and not a flat fee, which you CAN'T fault them.

Can we find examples in boxing history where a fighter and fight of this magnitude was told they'd have to sign to a rival competitor for X amount and number of fights?
