Common sense. If u ever get the feeling Danny struggling more than he should, I'm telling u he got something up his sleeve.

For some time, I've been musing how a Eubank Jr vs Benavidez fight would do. After watching their bouts hours ago I'd say Benavidez would wash Eubank, however, that's if Eubank sorts his shyt out. Gavril would probably wash Eubank.
so now I guess we are in the phase where "everybody beats Eubank" :mjlol:

Groves could box him and didn't gas as much as it was expected, also Eubank wasn't as ferocious as expected, he didn't use the double or triple jab enough to make Groves back up and by the end he got mad sloppy BUT that was still against an opponent who could box him effectively and constantly threatening him at least in the first half with a straight right. I don't try to make it out as it wasn't underwhelming from him but I also think he lost to the best 168 pounder now. Zurdo, Benavidez, Smith, Gavril, Truax... these dudes can't box like Groves can imo, maybe Zurdo a little and also Degale (but he has Truax problems now) but neither of those dudes have the constant threat of such a powerful straight right what Groves has.
Gavril likes to block a lot with a double guard which gives opportunity to Eubank to tee off on him up close... Look at the Yildirim and Abraham fights, he likes when opponents shell up. Gavril moves more on his feet than them but not enough imo and as I said a constant double guard is a bad idea against Eubank.

Gonna be hard to beat Groves, probably it's gonna take someone in this division who is either a better pure boxer or someone who can actually push the fight to the inside/pocket. It's hard though cause everything Groves does is designed to prevent that. He always has his right hand next to his chin almost steady, with the highlighted threat of a straight right every second plus he is in this wide, semi-crouching stance which further distance him. Point is he really doesn't want you to step inside and he prevents it with these methods.
Always reminded me a little of Adonis Stevenson, he has a similar approach, difference is that Stevenson has even bigger one punch power in his straight left so he kinda builds up his whole game landing that so his jabs are also rather just set ups while Groves often jabs with authority doesn't rely on his straight right that much but both of them have their rear hand up next to their chin almost steadily constantly threatening with a straight cross

and none of them really likes it on the inside, they can tough it out if it's a must but not great inside fighters. Groves was praised by some for hi work in the clinch I didn't see that... I saw him using illegal tactics like excessive holding and headlocks when it got to the inside, a different ref might even takes a point or two from him, that's not fighting on the inside.
With that said he was effective mid and long range but I also think his work was somewhat overrated by the commentators who seemed like giving him extra point for simply not getting walked down and cared less about how effective and active is he otherwise.
But anyway, it was a good fight, Groves will win the tournament too now I still think this was kinda the real final and that Groves will have an easier job with Smith.

Alexander vs Ortiz was a good fight, the decision was some bullshyt though... Alexander won that

The commentators kept praising Ortiz because he allegedly "proved he still has heart" in this fight which I don't buy at all and found quite funny cause maybe he had an injury but Alexander just didn't punch hard enough to make him quit but imo if you put him in with a big puncher he's gonna be the same old Victor Ortiz...
