I binged the season in two days :francis:

And now I have some questions:

When Nacho was in the hotel and confronted the guy who was watching him, I thought he called Fring's men and then they called the spy after he hung up, but then the Salamancas showed up. So who sent the spy?

How was Lalo able to take out teams of trained men, but he died in a shootout with Fring?

Fringe hid the gun and knew exactly
Where it was so in the dark he was able to find it and shoot Lalo

Yeah, I think sometimes it fell into an almost comic book feel with the plot armor on the big guys while foot soldiers go down way too easy.

Lalo taking out the hit team felt like Mike clearing out the hide house by himself, the twins clearing out an entire base with no worries, and the white supremacists sweeping in and taking down the entire rival gang. Just way too easy and not really explicable.

Checking out season 6 now. I hate the Gene scenes

Those few black and white Gene episodes at the end were really unnecessary and a waste of time

They fulfill what I saw one writer refer to as "inferior but necessary" episodes (in reference to Bleeding Gums Murphy). I didn't enjoy them either, but they show us how inane Gene's life had become, why it wasn't sustainable at all, why he basically had to get himself caught, and add to the emotional depth that makes these series masterpieces and not just eye candy for adrenaline junkies. Because of the slow down and break in the rhythm from the go go go fukkery of the rest of the show, they allow the fukkery to have weight and not just get wearisome.

it says a lot that with the Gene scenes we see 2 points of color.

1. When he sees his old Better Call Saul commercials.

2. When the cigarette he shares with Kim is lit up.

he may have been physically free as Gene but he was in a lonely mental prison during that phase.

Pretty sure Gus & his crew sent the spy

The spy was sent by Tyrus, so it was orchestrated by Gus, Juan Bolsa found out the location after he dialed a number while raiding Nacho's place, The number was left by Mike.
Nacho was gonna be given to the Salamancas either way after he was found out to be the mole during Lalo's home invasion

as for the second question
He outsmarted them because he knew his home, just like Gus outsmarted him because he knew his hideout, and its TV 🤷🏾‍♂️
