Ill never forget when I first actually understood Lupes verse on Pressure. Came out when I was in 6th Grade but I deciphered when I was a freshman. nikka outclassed my GOAT smh

Jay’s your GOAT…interesting. Based on how heavily you favor pens in battle rap, I woulda expected your GOAT to be somebody from the Four Horsemen (the actual rap group), Chino XL or someone. Maybe Rakim, Pun, Nas, somebody from Wu, or G Rap.

Jay pen is unmatched. Hes the most prophetical rapper ever. And no one paints pictures like he does. My favorite Jay Z line "Stress can give a young nikka an old face" I felt that. Loso is a fakkit. I was screaming "HE TALKING THAT shyt" "YOU DONT RAP LIKE THAT" while looking at a bytch ass Nas poster. And Jay Z got 7 classics. Take that H. Selassie.

Sidenote. Jay Z and T.I. are two of my favorites rappers. JC is favorite battler and he reminds me both. The universe has spoken. It was destined for me to be great. Im going to fulfill my dreams. And do porn.

I don’t really judged Verzuz, but I’m willing to bet there will be different points of view depending on where you’re from. I can flat out see nyggas from NY riding with the Lox while nyggas from other regions roll with dipset.
It's weird because most of Dipset fan base comes from swag and fashion way more than music. They are culturally a bigger deal than they ever were commercially. They have one Gold album and it was a double CD (Not counting Cam's solo work, just as a group).

While the Lox have had way more mainstream success, been on much bigger records, and collaborated with much bigger artists, but are seen as more regional. I think it's because of how they carried themselves. I don't think nikkas wanted to dress or be like the Lox, but people legit wanted to be like Dipset. The biggest artist in the world at one point (Lil Wayne) was under them, even though he was a far bigger star than all of them together.

The type of music dipset made is way more appealing to other regions then the LOX.

You could try to rebuttal that with sales, but mainstream success has never really dictated what was played in the streets, particularly in the Midwest & south, which I can speak to.

Hell Nas is my favorite rapper, but I can turnaround and name an artist you’ve probably never heard of that got more play in the streets then Nas, despite Nas having more mainstream success.

Ok Lupe :leon: Obviously it's different whe you're in front of people but at least there's like 0 outdated bars and he got the cadence and flows down
The Dodge/Challenger bar was kinda OBC, but outside of that, he had fresh punches, especially the Helsinki (He'll sink I)/Finnish (Finish) bar. That was tough

That's fair as far as the streets.

Jay has a pen on par or better than anyone in the history of hip-hop; he just always talks that big money shyt and therefore a lot of people don't look at it that way.

The Lox, Jada in particular because he was always chasing a bag lol, did plenty of songs with people from all different places, but all of their music for the most part still sounded NY heavy. The Diplomats were heavier into making music with other regions and more so following their formulas as well. Like the "Bout It" remix or the Twista joint from Purple Haze or just the Sizzurp campaign or Cam doing all of that shyt in Ohio. Santana in particular with the Wayne shyt or Jones being damn near reinvented as another Miami rapper.

True, though at the moment I was more like "That was kinda light/obvious" but when I think about it, yeah dodge challenger has been over done :heh:

Even the way they rap is a little too NY heavy, particularly Jadakiss & Styles. They’re a little too monotone to ever be fully appreciated.

When they first came out, people thought Sheek was the best just because he brought energy and wasn’t monotone like the other two.

Mase is an exception, as he blew up off monotone rap.
