That's a goddamn lie. L was barely even on NY radio when he was alive. The only spins he prolly got was from Stretch and Bobito and them.
When I was in junior high mvp was a popular record among hip hop heads

can’t remember if Ebonics came out before or after he died but that was another popular record among hip hop heads

Big L is the definition of "dead rappers get better promotion". When the nikka died the internet, as rudimentary as it was back then, hopped on his dikk.
L was not making noise like that in NY. People are rewriting history.

No. Radio is one thing but that fool's video was on Rap City and Yo! MTV Raps damn near very other day when it dropped. The internet hoping on his dikk when he died has a little merit but fukk all that...I recall his videos being played quite a bit. yes, Stretch and Bobbito gave him spins but y'all nikkas acting he was just local the whole time he was alive. If muthafukkas heard about him in other parts of the country and elsewhere, he wasn't just local...again, he was fukkin' signed to Columbia Records.

You keep saying this but I never saw his videos on tv, and I had cable when he would have been alive. All we watched was music videos. I even had the box. His shyt wasn’t on tv like that.

So what he was signed to Columbia? Do you know how many people get signed, and are never heard? That’s not a valid argument. You can be on a label and not make any noise.

Lol@Big L being local... He was about to be signed to Rocafella.

what does one have to do with the other? Signing to rocafella equates to not being a local artist? What kind of logic is that?

You’re really going to tell me that Big L was not an underground artist?

He didn’t get recognized for his talent until he died. I would say that Deadly Combination track with 2pac helped a lot with his exposure.

If he was shelved, this would make more sense. But he wasn't, was he? Yes or no. Did his album come out in 1995 or no? Yes, I get he could have been even bigger than he was when he signed with Roc before he died. But this whole just local shyt is hilarious to me that y;all believe this.

Ok you had The Box. And? That wasn't the only outlet for videos, my nikka.
You know what? Forget it...

My friend just say you weren't up on him...

Nah, he feels he was "right". We'll just let him be. LOL.

Tooth is in this nikka's NECK! I love it:demonic:

You just missed out. I am from Baltimore, we knew about him. I only listened to Hip-Hop/College radio, heard him plenty. Pu It On and MVP got plenty of play on The Box. DITC. As a crew's name rang bells. He was far from a no name. He was really growing in popularity before he died. Everyone was waiting to see what he would do on Rocafella.

If they weren't playing L in NY then they sure as hell weren't playing him 20 years ago when Charlotte was nothing but bushes.

If that man heard it down there in Charlotte then he did. Unless you can prove otherwise like you lived there, I won't say he didn't hear Big L in that sense. I remember a few east coast nikkas going down south to places like NC back then that was into shyt like Big L so I am pretty sure they would have a tape or two put someone to him possibly.

Let’s use some reading comprehension here. I said we had cable. You needed cable to watch MTV & BET. Not everyone had cable in the 90s. I also said I even had the box, which wasn’t really a common channel. That’s 3 channels right ?
