Let's talk about Rum Nitty vs Ill Will.
From a business point of view, I do not understand it. Considering Ill Will's hiatus from the URL, I do not think he deserves a battle with Rum Nitty. Rum Nitty has been grinding while Ill Will has been doing battles on Mic Murderers TV.
Another issue I see with the battle is if there truly is a plan in place for Rum Nitty vs Tay Roc, I do not think putting him in there against Ill Will is a good idea. If Ill Will is on his shyt, he can potentially fukk Rum Nitty up. He's just too well rounded for a punchline guy. Bigg K did well, because he can bring more than punchlines to a battle.
So my thought is that this battle is URL gambling. You said it right, that if Will tears Rum down, they lose a story line (the Nitty/Roc/Gunbar thing).
But there are other possibilities.
1. If Nitty has another great performance, that story line gets better and that Roc battle start flirting with the spot of "most anticipated battle" of whatever major card it's on. Maybe even main event level hype.
2. If both of them have a great night and the battle is classic or near-classic, they have both developed the Nitty storyline, and they reintroduced Ill Will to URL in just one battle. Since Ill Will already has a name, and has a base of fans who WANT to see him back on the stage, one great performance will be enough for him to skip a lot of the "proof" battles and get a solid opponent on strong card. So in just one battle, URL has a chance of creating a 'main event' level battle with Nitty/Roc and reawakening a fan favorite (one who hasn't faded in obscurity yet) with Ill Will.
This isn't at all to say your view on it is wrong, but I think there's some reason/sense to it. They are taking a risk, but it's not really a big one. If Nitty gets beat, they can still use their machine to build the hype for the Roc battle if they want to.
