So what ya'll thinking/expecting from Bigg K/ICE?

I feel like K is 100% in control of whether this is close or not. If he tries one of his alternative comedy-type rounds, he might fall flat. That cat thing vs Caustic was wack, and he leaned on the Math salad tossing jokes a little too heavily.:whoa:

I somewhat agree with the bolded, especially if it's 2 minute rounds. The basic 2-4 bar setup haymaker style has been running battle rap for the last few years. If you have a good voice, projection, and a decent amount of presence and you utilize that style for 3 rounds, most fans will give you the win.

And if you're Charlie Clips, you only need 2 solid rounds of that to claim a victory.

Creativity, uniqueness and rapping ability are all valued to some level, but ultimately we have been trained to register points for landing haymakers.

As much as the KOTD fans love Ice, he will have some material that everyone doesn't understand right away, and the punchline lovers will hold it against him when judging the battle.

marv won and quest mccody are the Tri-Lambs of battle rap, nerdy as shyt but they somehow get wins

seeing them battle chess and steams makes them look real people instead of battle rap geeks, i'm so confused

Speaking of ICE, Ars washed that nikkaz badly 3-0 :mjlol:

Kotd is the best place for ICE. They only place that will let ICE get away with fart jokes in his bars :dead:

I think Ice's style is dope and unique. I had Ars winning but Ice got at least a round. First time I've seen Ice lose clearly in a long time.

No shots but I think it's fair to say you're more of a punchline lover, so Ice wouldn't really do much for you. :yeshrug:

I don't see it. If anything they have always been the regular guy rappers, once the fans started desiring a little more quirkyness & panache they kinda went out of style.

I like WEGOHARD but that movement is some of the geekiest battle rap shyt ever. Any really good WEGOHARD battle is going to have a large percentage of bars that ONLY the people in the room will understand. And they specialize in awkward sounding rhyming puzzles. The only reason why people don't see them geeks is because it's a room full of nyggas from the hood. But what they do is the dictionary definition of "geeky". And that's not to dis, because I'm a battle rap geek.

Watching old videos of battle nikkas, I miss when dudes would talk shyt to each other before battles. Nowadays, there doesn't seem to be much of that. It's all too friendly now

I like punchline and real talk. But ice gets a lot of love from the jump because a lot of these nikkaz don't have fathers and they look at him as such :manny:

lol that's a TREMENDOUS reach. It's absolutely ok to not like Head Ice, but how do you logically make that connection?

WGH is esoteric, yeah. i never thought of it as geeky but i can see the argument

marv and quest just come off like dorks, i dont necessarily dislike it, and it could be that they're in rooms full of dudes barking about how big their guns are that emphasizes it

i didnt really mean it as disrespect either, as i type this im reading a novel about a con man in the fictional land of Camorr fighting off a Bondsmage sorcerer with a scorpion-tinged falcon :ld:

steams really is a fukking geek though, regardless of anything else.

I definitely see how Marv & Quest come off dull, and Quest kinda has that "Huh, I don't get it" face. The weird thing is, Marv is very charismatic in person but it doesn't translate completely to the stage.

At this point Gwitty & Steams have a huge influence on what people rock with in WEGOHARD, and they are both really geeky. I was hyped when Gwitty linked with QP Sons because those are two of my favorite geeky battlers.

Dude Chess still does that pointing to his head gesture after some punchlines, he doesn't even realize how silly that shyt looks. But the WGH crowd goes so crazy over those "connect the dots" punchlines, so he gets frustrated.

i would not have guessed that :bryan:

i dont wanna be anywhere near a circle of dudes that are influenced by gwitty and steams, jesus christ. i know its cliche to say steams is holding chess back but i think he must regret coming up with those dudes, he's loyal for good reason but a clown by association
