I personally think URL should be recruiting guys that have potential to be good battlers. For example, in the early QOTR days, Debo would find girls that were artists, and convinced them to try battle rap. I believe that’s why Jaz started if I remember correctly.

I don’t think they should target established artists. No one wants to see that which is why battles like Cas/freeway and Diz/Crooked I are cold.

I’ve been saying for years that both nyggas in the hoodies should be battlers. They would benefit so much from it. It would really raise their profile. These nyggas is still rapping in the car.

Hm, that's an interesting approach, so instead of picking up brehs off the street, they should try convincing new rappers that make music to battle rap as well? That could be an interesting approach. lol I had a different spiel for a reply but then I realized that I might be putting words in your mouth (pause) hence the question I wanna ask; by artists, you mean like rappers that are already signed to a label? or just any unsigned rapper that makes music?

Yes recruit newer rappers that make music. Recruit talent. Don’t limit yourself to guys that battle on smaller leagues. Be a salesman. Convince nyggas to try it. That should be the goal.

I don’t think whether they are signed or unsigned matters. I don’t know a lot of these guys situation. I mean Mook is technically signed and you wouldn’t even know it if you didn’t follow battle rap.

It’s like if there’s some dope unknown nygga you hear freestyling on SWAY, why not reach out to him to see if he’s open to battling?

Right this sounds like a good idea, no harm in trying to get folks like Costra Nostra to battle:

I hate how Battlerappers like Big T and Aye Verb were brilliant writers that have fallen off to this degree.

All that’s left are delusional petty Spaces fueled by bitterness and mediocre battles.

At some point they were part of the writers that were the most fascinating to observe SMH
That freestyle session with Sway should be a reminder how ill of a rapper Big T really is

How he puts his rhymes together is just so cold and unorthodox.

Lux, Verb, Ill and Big T specifically were the ones that rapped unorthodox out of the 4bar format structure.

Them nikkas were so cold in the golden era if you really are into breaking down the technical aspects of rhyming

It's THEM nikkas back then Joe Budden & Mickey Factz were talkin about being scared of at one point

Most of them simply fell off by not caring and being stuck in the current 4bar set up era

I remember having a conversation with a Mickey Factz about rhymin and the shyt was one of the most fun conversations I've ever had.
The nikka is dope as fukk to go back and forth with on some rap shyt cause agree or disagree he is a HipHop head.

We both agreed these new battlerap nikkas ain't rappers forreal.
Yeah they can come up with bars but most of em ain't rappers forreal-forreal
