This. If bar complexity is the sole standard, then no one should ever rap…in battles or to music. We would just read paper to determine quality.

As much as the BR purist deny it battle rap in general is more then just bars these days. But that wasn't the point, someone said Lux style disguises his lack of bars and @MJ Truth rightfully pointed out its the opposite. Lux is too layered and complex for battle rap in its current form. He can punch, he has plenty of haymakers proving that but he just doesn't want to.

I'm clearly in the minority but I definitely think Cal can and would beat Lux. Cal's writing is more mature and defined these days and I'd say he is actually in his prime at the moment and Lux, while still supremely skilled, does not have the same glow that he had Summer Madness 2. Everybody who Lux has ever lost to is way less intricate than him actually.

Lux puts way too much in his bars, and layers them in a way that even if you are completely sober, listening intently, and expecting his style, you're just not gonna catch that shyt in a crowded room. And you're not gonna catch it at home watching it one time either. Literally the best thing Lux brings to the table is that you can watch his battles multiple times, over and over, and keep hearing new shyt, or making new connections. So it's a double-edged sword; he's pretty much lost every battle he's ever had since Calicoe with fans in the building and on the first watch, but it always reverses by the time it hits YouTube or the app and people can actually digest it. He's probably the only top tier battler who you can continually go back to his rounds and catch new shyt later.

And it's clear he doesn't give a fukk about the fan response at this point, despite what the says. It's clear that he's just writing to impress himself, which I guess it's just the level he's hit, can't be mad at it.

When Lupe Fiasco says your bars are too complex, they're too complex. He said this after Lux battled Surf and was talking to Mickey and said Lux only issue is that he's too layered, to the point even Lupe says he can't keep up

At some point being intricate is a net negative.

Danny and Rum have the best sportsmanship in battle rap and they're part of the same crew, I knew they was gonna be hugging and dapping and all that type of shyt.
