That whole arc is a classic.

Annihilation as a whole could've been Marvel's Star Wars if done as a trilogy.

I think they are setting up a version of Annihilation for the MCU. They left out Xandar being destroyed in Infinity War to possibly set up Richard Rider's origin I think. Would be a smart play.
