I feel the Strawhats represent the hopes and dreams of the world. So you've got not only humans but a Fishman whose people were enslaved and a literal talking reindeer that represents animals. I think Bonney, given her circumstances, could represent the hopes for a better future for Celestial Dragons despite her bloodline.
Bonney potentially has everything. She could have a nice life. She's got Celestial blood. Imagine if someone with celestial blood helped Luffy become the Pirate King and destroy the current regime of the world government. That would be such a sacrifice. Bonney has it in her almost as much as Robin to see this through. I think she has earned a place among the Strawhats.
Not only that but the fact that her dream potentially is about helping Joy Boy, passed on to her from Kuma, makes it even more of a good fit. If kuma sacrifices himself but she takes on his dream and passion for Joy Boy and helped Luffy become Pirate King I think it would make Kuma's sacrifices worth it. The more I think about it, the more I think Bonney HAS to join to make sure Luffy becomes the Pirate King and inherit Kuma's will to protect Joy Boy at all costs.

Kuma's life fuggin sucks! Can my guy have a little bit of happiness. It's one tragedy after another. Sadly, he is probably on his way to Egghead to die. Kuma had to make a deal with the world government to save Bonney. She gets the age-age fruit and he agrees to become their test subject.
Side note: Oda is the goat at dropping little hints throughout the story. The Akainu/ Bonney conversation makes so much more sense now. Also, does Blackbeard know her identity? Her being a CD is probably the reason Saturn was treating her with kid gloves.
