Why wasn't their similar hype surrounding Samoa Joe?

tbh there should have been. WWE has come a long way, in terms that these guys are actually in the company now, but they still don't realize the starpower that non-WWE guys can actually have, and drop the ball on debuts and whatnot. Like bruh, if Joe was brought in like Owens was to Raw, in a feud with Cena as an unforgiving badass, the fans woulda rolled with that, and he would have played it off great just like Owens has. He in a great spot in NXT but just saying these guys aren't on the beginning side of their prime and if the goal is to have them on Raw sooner or later, what's the point?

I can see AJ having a Jericho type run in the WWE. He's gonna get his feet warm in the WWE for now. Then sooner rather than later his first major feud gonna be an interesting one, and then he'll start getting some major runs and major angles.

Just his mic skills aren't at Y2J's level. but they can most def work around that.

He's still fluid like a much younger man in the ring. Lawler was going extra hard about "how he needs to prove himself in the WWE because nothing else counts" on smackdown commentary.

this is how the wwf keeps its stranglehold on the casual & un-informed audience. they really eat all that propaganda up.

whats funny is jerry lawler's decorated in-ring legacy has absolutely nothing to do with the wwf.:heh:

Styles’ downside guarantee is reportedly in excess of $500K, about $100K more than he made in 2015. The locker room is probably thrilled about that.

When you get that kind of dough, you’re an investment. If somebody fresh out of NXT that makes crap doesn’t impress initially, no big deal. Toss him on the scrap heap. Next!

But when you make what Styles makes, you’re much more likely to get a legit opportunity to succeed. WWE wants to justify the investment.

That’s why Styles lasted 28 minutes in the Royal Rumble. That’s why Styles beat Chris Jericho in his first singles match.

When Styles negotiated a lucrative contract, he simultaneously negotiated a push.
Dude went from getting James Storm low ball 100k offer a few years ago to now 500k:salute:

Ranallo brought up Nattie & Becky history going back to Canada and Lawler said the same thing if it didn't happen here in wwe it didn't happen. Its just funny to me when they pick and choose to used that mindset.

When they promote DVD's Or the HOF they sing a different tune & they celebrate & acknowledge people from other feds outside of WWE that of course Vince brought the video library to but still.

Well you have to take into account this is part of the narrative of his character that they want to do. The "won everything everywhere else but has to work his way up in WWE" angle. They don't need to start him off slow and work him up the card to gain momentum. They need to push him right into the upper card and use his enormous buzz to cement him there RIGHT OFF THE BAT. They should be doing "AJ Styles is here and he's ready and able to beat the best". What does it do for me to be second guessing him as a star/performer because the commentary/narrative is saying he hasn't proven anything, and he might not be good enough for WWE?

This initial feud is really gonna be telling in if they are gonna use him right.

Joe honestly had lost his spark years ago wasting away in TNA while AJ styles left and reestablished himself as one of the best wrestlers on the planet with his NJ/ROH/Indy run the last 2 years.
This here. The last 2 years did more for him than his tna career imo

When it comes to getting this WWE deal anyway...

Lawler has gone to being a heel on commentary, that's why he's making that annoying point. He knows people hate that shyt. I'm glad he's back to having some fukking personality, Jerry the gawd :blessed:

the face commentators push the same narrative.

its a wwe thing.

aj styles was already one of the best wrestlers on the planet before all that.

Of course he was but it seemed like alot of people forgot that during his last years in TNA.

The fact it seem they are putting him with Jericho is a god sign cause Jericho doesn't mind doing the job and with try and make him look good. But on the other hand Jericho been so much of a jobber lately with each return that a win for AJ is like ok its expected.

What direction they push him after Jericho will be huge. We all no that Vince & company like playing with a shiny new toys but where will he been in 3 to 6 months.

I Agree that its mania season and you have alot of casual fans tuning in to watch who may not be up on AJ Styles you can make him look like a star dont make it seem like he doesn't belong or cant hang.

Why was Jericho calling Styles a kid he is cot damm 38. I was reading on some site and dude brought it up. When you call someone kid your going to make the fans google him to see how old he really is.
