I don't think religion need to be a part of the discussion.

Off-topic but I never really liked the term freedmen. Those individuals were not free. They were just at the bottom of a caste system; second class citizens. They were not seen as equals.

To reach Black folks we are going to have to tackle the religious issues. Many of our people are hooked on Jesus, lol.
We're trying to break through to them and get them to see that Reparations has been apart of the Bible and other religious ideologies and get the Black Church to strongly support the Reparations Movement.


My group chose to go with Freedmen for political purposes because their is history with that name within the U.S. government. That term had already been used so we are trying to connect the current Reparations push to the U.S. government's failure to uphold the promises made to the Freedmen.
