Wyatt Langford hit his 5th home run tonight in his 14th game. His OPS is over 1.000. I still can't believe Scott Harris drafted Max Clark over him.
He also has four stolen bases on the season, which is just four fewer than Detroit as a team.
Langford is likely legit.
Though I cautioned people about him last Spring when he was hot.
It often takes rookies a while to adjust. Langford was not good out the gate.
Meanwhile I remember the hype for Jordan Walker. And he’s not looking good even after a stint in the minors.
What’s funny is the OTHER hyped player on the coli is Elly de la Cruz, who has all the tools and makes highlight plays, but even now remains a .739 OPS hitter with a 32.7% strikeout rate. Not exactly living up to the expectations.
It’s natural to have hope with young players. And when people like myself try to calm that hype/hope we get accused of hating or negativity. You just recognize over the years how few actually pan out. We are skeptical for good reason.
