Gold medal track and field winners are getting $50k per gold for the first time this year. Individuals get the whole $50k, teams split the $50k. Silver/bronze get nothing. U.S. and most “rich” 1st world countries still virtually giving out food stamp cash prizes for winners vs most of the smaller countries. U.S. is still basically the only country that doesn’t provide funding for either Olympic or ParaOlympic elite athletes.
