Not to nitpick but Penn State isn't a blue blood
Historically there's 8 CFB blue bloods:

ND
OSU
scUM
Texas
OU
USC
Bama
Nebraska

Nebraska about 1 more generation from being replaced with UGA

I have this CFB encyclopedia that ranked all the programs in D1, but this was circa 2005 or 06, so it'd have a lot of changes, b/c ND was #1, SC was #2 and Bama was #3...and Bama would be the clear #1 now

Agree although I'm not sure if Nebraska can be replaced. And if they do, if UGA will be the one to do it.

If Kirby goes on a Saban like run for as many years as Saban did maybe. But historically UGA has been above average to great, but only really a few years in the 80s and Kirby (2017-2023) were they really elite like that.

Fair. more of nebraska getting booted than replaced...How long can they win 6-9 games (or less) before they lose their status?

I'm not sure if they can lose their status.

Or if they do who would replace them. I guess they could lose their status, but it would take a while.

Game hasn't been played long enough for that to happen yet.

There are teams like Minnesota that have 6 titles that have no status at all, it could happen. But I agree it likely won't

Nebraska is no more of a blue blood at this point than Minnesota is :hubie:

I'd say Blue bloods are

ND
ohio
The University of Michigan
Texas
OU
USC
Bama

the tier below that is
Penn State
LSU
Nebraska
TN

I think it might be a bit soon to remove Nebraska.

They won 2 titles in the 90s (some argue 3, I'm sure you are not one of them though lol) , which is more recent than Penn State and around the same as Tennessee.

I can see your argument but Tennessee has been irrelevant and terrible for about as long as Nebraska in the 21st century and haven't won a title in about as long.

Tennessee is doing a bit better under Heupel but really suffer from the same issues as Nebraska in that they both recruit heavy from other states and their in-state talent pipeline isn't sufficient to bring them back to top status in this day and age.

I could see an arguement for NEB being on LSU's or Penn's tier if you want to say they're not a blue blood any more but Tenneessee ain't shyt.
