Seeing a lot of talk about Jackson Chourio coming into 2025.

I kinda feel like Jackson Merrill is going to be the better player though.

Someone posted a meme that Yadier Molina caught more games than Joe Mauer and Buster Posey combined.

I have to check if that's even true. Lol
Might be an unpopular opinion but Yadier is better than Mauer and Posey. I don't care how well they can hit. Molina was better than both as an actual catcher.

If Joe Mauer wasn't a catcher he might not even be in Cooperstown.

He wasn't a bum. He wasn't elite either, except for 2 or 3 seasons.

Writers now want to argue that "well we don't need to consider the downslope of a player's career".

Fine. Then let's make everyone retire at 30.

I'm biased obviously but I'll take Brian McCann over Joe Mauer as well.

From what I can tell, the only players to have 500 doubles, 500 home runs, and 3,000 hits are

Albert Pujols
Alex Rodriguez
Willie Mays
Miguel Cabrera
Rafael Palmeiro
Eddie Murray

You'd think the biggest obstacle to reaching these milestones are the home runs. But actually it's the hits. A lot of great players never got to 3,000 hits.

Some, because they were robbed of a few years (Ted Williams with military service, Barry Bonds through collusion). But even Ruth didn't get there, and he played in an era were base hits were far more common.
Palmeiro 3000 hits 500 2B 500 HR will never ever sniff the HOF :manny:
