I actually haven't caught any of their games this season. But, a few of my friends are K-State Alums and they are all pissed with Tang. So I'm thinking he's not getting the best out of the team.

Bringing in a bunk of hired guns hasn't really worked well, at least this year. Look at IU, they have a $5M roster and they're like 8th place in the B1G with "Fire Woodson" chants cascading down from the crowd during their games. KU, is doing better than KSU or IU, but they were supposed to be #1 overall, making a title run this year.
The best model is still to build with HS recruiting and fill roster holes with portal guys, not go out and grab the most expensive guys in the portal and hope they workd, b/c that can destroy team chemistry, "why so & so getting $2M, he not put in work here like me"
There are exceptions like Dusty May or Calipari having to build rosters in the off season, but the best teams this year weren't built from the portal.
As for K-State, Idk what tf they were smoking giving Coleman Hawkins $2M...I watched dude play and he's aiiight, but it's like like he was some absolute game changer at Illinois. He was never their first option either.

Yea they focused too much on being the highest bidder to the perceived best players in the portal instead of guys that actually fit.

Exactly. Give me guys that are buying into the system, understanding that there will be an adjustment period, and that want to win above all else.
Self is a great coach but guys like dikkenson are fukking clowns and won't ever win shyt

Rick Pitino is the true fukking wizard. To have the success that's he's had at the number of places he's coached. He doesn't get the recognition (anymore?), but I think he has to be in any top 5 list of best college coaches ever. How many coaches have met or exceeded expectations (winning consistently; taking teams to the tourney that haven't been in a long time; taking teams deeper than they've ever been) at more than two school? Bill Self (Tulsa, Illinois, KU). Anyone else?
