In fairness, with a front 3 of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, anything less than a trophy would’ve been a failure.

This Real Madrid team was status. To come back against PSG, Chelsea and City was ridiculous. Have to give credit where it’s due, Don Carlo’s Two CLs with Real is more impressive than Zidane’a three peat.

Zidane won when Barca were in disarray (with Neymar leaving). Atlético were struggling to win in the finals twice. Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema were just ridiculous during that period.

Jose came close but he struggled against a prime Bayern and Barca during his tenure at Real. Winning the CL in 2014 and 2022 was way harder in context.

The manner they kept coming from behind, with an old partially washed squad - this is the best run I’ve seen in my lifetime. The fans wanted to assassinate Don Carlo last Christmas.

I agree it's a great feat, not disagreeing there, I just think beating only champions in your run is the perfect run. Felt like the 90s when only champs were competing in the C1.

Liverpool have been on dead legs since the Carabao cup, even Fabinho said recovery from that was very difficult. Them not scoring today isn't really a surprise. Once the game hit 75 mins I knew it was a mountain to climb at that point.
