I'm going to assume the rule was applied correctly because they were on the phone. However, that is an absolutely horrible rule if it hits in play, then bounces off the fielder and goes out of play.

If the rule was applied correctly, like the Tuck Rule, then it's fair. Might be a terrible rule, but if the ruling was by the book............

Hell no that can't be the 'correct' call. Rays got cheated. Basically what that means is an outfielder can just pick up a ball and throw it into the stands to keep a runner from scoring. Same (not really but really) damn thing.

No they can't.. because that would mean the player cleanly fielded the ball.

It's called the rule. I said the rule seems like trash, but it was the CORRECT call. That is a FACT, just like the Yankees being irrelevant is a fact.
