I thought the mets were supposed to be good
They should be. They went from a "see ball, hit ball" offense to an analytics one where they are overthinking on what they're seeing and how they're swinging.
It's not a coincidence that in 2019 they were 6th in the NL and in 2020, they were 1st in the NL. That was under Brodie Van Wagenen. In 2021, Sandy Alderson has them employing a launch angle offense and as a result, the entire offense has been neutered.
Mets fans know that he was crippling them his first time around and Cohen, who is not a fan, brought him back in a baseball role. They're going to jump the gun and blow up this lineup when Alderson's philosophy is the culprit here.
Had they kept going with what was working, they'd have run away with the division. I'm not a Steve Cohen guy, so he deserves this but Mets fans don't.
