As a Nats fan, I ain’t mad. The window was closing in 2019 and we got a World Series. We thought we could reload this season and it hasn’t worked at all. The team is old and needs to start over. No shame at all.

We just need the prospects for a real rebuild. It’s been a great 10 years. :manny:
Exactly. That run and chase for a WS ring has left their farm system barren. It’s definitely time to re-stock the farm & free up some $ (Dodgers are paying all of Max’s deferred $) so they can become players again in the market when the time is right. Also, Nats have done really well in the international market. Not only with Soto but this year they signed top Dominican prospect SS Armando Cruz (Ozzie Smith type glove potential), Dominican CF Cristian Vaquero & already have Venezuelan pitcher Andry Lara coming up through the ranks. There’s no reason to continue to fight against a rebuild when for the last season and a half you’ve been mediocre since the WS. Smart for Rizzo to re-tool and keep it moving. Weren’t going to pay Turner upwards of 300 mill when he turned 30 anyway in a couple years. Save that $ for Soto’s big payday. Another thing, look at Anthony Rendon after signing that 245 mill deal. Completely has underperformed that contract thus far and he’s had the injury bug. I love Rendon for what he meant to that WS team but it’s just a poor investment.

the Rays are very well ran, so i wont question them too hard but why trade Diego? 2.99 career ERA, mad years of control left

Nats got some majors ready talent back, watched Gray vs. the Rockies last week looked good

The Rays probably have like 2 relievers coming up that are as good if not better than Diego.
This is what they do.

The Mets don't have the prospect capital that these other teams have so I understand the waiting game on both sides. Still a lot of time left. Would be nutty to be all in.

Yeah, I won't front, I looked at the deals that the Padres and Dodgers was swinging yesterday, and then seeing how we was asked to come up off our top prospects and immediately hit the

This is year 1 under Uncle Steve; we ain't even got a full-time GM at the moment (we need to go and give Chaim Bloom a blank check lol), and we still need to get the farm system right.
