Man I’m feigning to the point I got a countdown for Nebby and Illinois
What’s the Nebraska/Scott frost fan’s current username? We need a preview.
Power play to stop ESPN and the SEC from controlling the broadcasting rights for the playoffs / big bowl games.
I’m awareESPN owns the ACC Network.
I’m aware
I think you’re misinterpreting the move here. ESPN had a stranglehold on the the CFP re-negotiations going into 2026, expansion or not. SEC is fine with 4 or 12 obviously, they are going to get there teams in. If an alliance is formed, it allows for more networks to be in play for rights with the CFP trending towards inevitable expansion. And It's over. Nothing they can do will trump bringing Texas and Oklahoma into the league. Most of the talent is in this area.
The best thing that could happen is expanding the playoffs which for some reason now they want to fight. It doesn't matter now. An SEC team is just about going to be in the championship game every year.

I think the scheduling bit is one part, but i think the long term play is setting up the next CFP right where ESPN doesn’t retain exclusive rights which only further helps the SEC. I don’t think the ACC network will be related to the CFP negotiations. Why would the ACC want that? Their TV rights are locked in with ESPN into the 2030s.That doesn't make sense from their perspective right now. I see this more as a scheduling deal and as they said "alliance" that they try to vote in favor of one another when they are up against the SEC.

From the ACC’s position, they will be looking to add Notre Dame as a full member and maybe another school, keep their heavyweights from bouncing, and make sure the SEC doesn’t push them around as you mentioned above. This will require them to give in for the other two P5s schools.
The Pac-12 and Big 10 both have deals, albeit not exclusive, with ESPN and Fox. Notre Dame has NBC. Amazon has a bag and will probably try to crack CFB. I think this move will allow for a bidding war and halt an accelerated expansion which will only favor ESPN/SEC.
