Honestly I just think they target specific pitchers they can improve and it seems to work. They have good pitching coaches
sheeiiiiit...remember Cliff Lee and how he became one of the most dominant for a couple years out of nowhere? he definitely had some shyt on his cap that he touched before every pitch.

Bauer does alot of training at Driveline. He likes to collect a lot of data. He once fooled around with foreign substance to see how he can add more spin rate and other things. He has a lot of hatred towards the Astros and always has singled them out. Like @FaTaL says. All pitchers use it. More so to help grip the baseball.
