Yeah, this is some BS. There should be no way that (if the allegations are true) LSU could get away with this. Shouldnt be able to give your own pusnishment, especially in a losing season. The punishment should be a bowl ban for the next season that they qualify for a bowl. If the NCAA had any guts, that would be the ruling that they hand down. Makes the penalty at least 2 years basically. The punishment would hurt even more if for example next season, LSU goes 11-1 or 10-2 and wastes a good season. That's a punishment.

The B1G made the rule up on the fly so why shouldn't they rescind it?

Penix Jr. is out for the season, IU's having COVID issues themselves (B1G schools usually miss multiple weeks), and o$u is the best team in the conference (barely).

If IU can't go and o$u is arbitrarily ruled ineligible, should they cancel the CCG or let Maryland, who would be the next eligible team, play in it? At that point, it wouldn't even be for a conference championship. If they have to reschedule the CCG then they can also reschedule The Game, which is the biggest revenue draw for the conference, and o$u would then be eligible anyway.

So who really cares? The conference will receive an additional payout for having a team in the playoff and o$u will be sacrificed to Crimson Tide for our amusement. That will be the end of it.
