In typical Met fashion, the Syracuse Mets lost the one game playoff for the division title 14-13 after leading the SWB Railriders (Yankees AAA affiliate) 13-6 in the bottom of the eighth. I listened to it on the radio and you could hear how resigned the commentator was to what was happening on the field. As poorly managed a game that you will see at any level. Tony DeFrancesco made Mickey Callaway look like 96-2000 Joe Torre. If Brooks Pounders, Nogosek and Hanhold are called up (the collective that allowed 8 ER in 1 IP), the Mets are in huge trouble if they have to rely on any of them. They would have been better off losing their game in Rochester yesterday than losing the way they did today.

Would have been great for the Syracuse team to join the Brooklyn organization in the playoffs and to also earn good will with the locals as they had a winner in their first season. So much for that. Brodie has a lot of work to do with the minor league system. Alderson neglected it his entire tenure.
