There’s one big difference you’re overlooking. Sumlin, despite being an alcoholic, didn’t stop recruiting after the first month of the season cause he wanted out. The man literally had coaches and GAs stop visiting and keeping in contact with recruits. He didn’t take an o-lineman for one or two recruiting cycles. All his QBs despite being this “QB whisperer” were ass. I hear folks say Taggart had talent which is true and false. Coming outta HS they were highly ranked but once they hit college, they weren’t being developed at all. Huge difference between what he took over at aTm and what the next guy up took over in Tallahassee.
