If were basing it off the last time we saw Jalen as a starter (his soph year) you're right.
However, I think Jalen is going through a Dak Prescott like transformation. Dak looked like he'd be playing TE his soph year. However, by his sr. year he looked like an NFL prospect. I think the same applies for Jalen. He seemed to really improve it was just Tua was playing at a Heisman worthy level.
I don't see him as a 1st round pick, but I could see a 3rd or 4th round pick. I mean Dobbs went 4th round. Word to Swag
Basically this. Plus Jalen has stated repeatedly that he wants to be a QB, him going to OU to play for Riley should've ended any thought about him playing another position. He'll be fine, last season he switched up his throwing mechanics and got more confident throwing the ball so we'll see. I definitely see similarities between Dak and Jalen though.

Jalen was having a Heisman type season for most of his true freshman season(finished with 3800 total yards and 36 total TD's) with a good OC in Kiffin and he's gotten a lot better since then. So the genius Lincoln Riley should have him putting up 4000+ total yards and 40+ total TD's at least, especially in that no defense conference.

Yea I'll never understand the dip from year 1 to year 2. Yea Kiffin was gone, but his progress was stunted big time.
Ideally Jalen would be better served with 2 years in OU's offense. Unfortunately with Bama's depth he was forced to play as a true freshman.

Daboll didn't know how to playcall to Jalen's strengths like Kiffin did. He did have a noticeable sophomore slump though, it kind of goes back what I was saying about how he was more confident last year than before cause in 2017 that 17-1 TD/INT ratio was deceiving because Jalen was way to hesistant to throw at times.

I think Daboll was just a bad hire by Saban tbh, he was trying to force more of a pro style offense while Kiffin catered to Jalen's skill set completely. And I think secretly the coaching staff wanted Tua to be the starter so there may have been a bit of sabotage there too. Kinda worried about this Sark hire by Saban too
we lucked out with Tua right now but he's gonna have to be careful on our next OC hire(hopefully Sark jets back to the NFL or something after this year)

Yea even with Jalen's struggles it still seemed like Tua couldn't wrestle the job away. Tua as a freshman wasn't what he was a soph. Obvious improvement, but seemed like he was held back. Yea Bama got really lucky that Tua was on fire that 2nd half
I hope it doesn't happen...but Sark could have Tua looking a bit off.

Yeah because before Urban OSU wasn’t good and didn’t have “the edge” with Tress. I mean he only won a chip in his 2nd year here ( it took Urban 3 years to win a chip here) and played for 2 more :Scustbrutus:. What will Day ever do without Urban even though he went 3-0 without him last year and currently has a top 5 crootin class . God help us :sadbucks:
