If UF wins a natty anytime soon, Mullens might be the GOAT

Having to get through UGA, BAMA, LSU, FSU, and two playoff games :whew:

Dude was hiding in plain sight at miss state for 8 years, all these ADs and search firms talked themselves into hiring no-names before Florida was finally smart enough to get him..

Dan reminds me alot like early Gus where recruiting class numbers wont matter, as long as he keeps his talent acumen at its current level, they'll eventually figure out how to get to the playoffs. Its woulda coulda shyt, but last yr feels like it would've been a SEC champ type of year if he was improving a league avg QB prospect and not a fukking idiot

On the real, Feleipe is fine, you'll see. He looked a lot more comfy in the offense this spring and also has become a willing runner. Is he Emory Jones with the running ability? Nah, he'll never be a true fit in the offense but he's good enough to win the East. He just has to continue to up that completion % and not take so long to get into the flow of the game. We started out too slow offensively last season.

And yea I think Mullen will be a lot like Dabo in recruiting in where some years he'll hover around the top 5 in incoming classes but some years he'll be lower as he seems to scout and recruit a specific player regardless of how many stars they are. They'll take a lowly rated 3* player if they feel he's the perfect fit for the scheme whether than take a higher rated player who may not fit and eventually transfer. He's damn good at developing talent and also, like Clemson, he seems to have great staff continuity.

I still believe the 2021 season is when we'll really be BACK to an elite status should he stay and nothing foolish happens

yall definitely need to bury UGA for good and re-establish natural balance in the east...I think Mullen is that type of guy that can do it

So you expecting him to run the sec let alone the east, or the state ????
I'm never expecting him to a miss a bowl game or lose to a D-2 team.

As big as a Mullen guy I am, dude even impressed me with the way he ran Michigan's cheek so maybe he will. Did way better than Kirby in year 1 and we see how UGA looking now...

Yea like I said back then, Mullen was by far the best choice for them even though all of their fans wanted Chip. Gonna be a few more years before they are on UGA/Bama's level though

Hiring a coach is simple. Take a dude who is producing at a lower level / doing more with less and bring him to the big leagues:hubie:

Almost every time a school uses that formula it works

Kirby is the exception not the rule - tons of "next head coaches in waiting" and "right hand coordinators" flop left and right:comeon:

:Mellooreally: Throwing shots, well as for him running us, he recycled what Indiana, and osu did, on Don Browns stubborn ass so he gets no kuddos for being a coach with a pulse, add to that he played a gutted defense with all our stars not in the dome,

@malbaker86 gave a great synopsis one day that showed he improved Florida, and it feels different/better, so I’m not going to knock that, but the thing for me is consistency, and a type, like urban, if he doesn’t get a particular qb his system can go to shyt and he is up and down, and i feel like he ate off having Dak not because he was some offensive genius, i don’t want to talk out both sides of my mouth but you can praise him for some of his accomplishments but let’s not crown the nikka or applaud him just yet, it’s year one, let’s see year 3-4

To further illustrate my point let’s look at them state years

he was decent at state with one double digit season, and given the talent in the West, honestly he should have only had 2-3 loses in the anemic west, LSU and bama was his competition, with ole miss rising, until they got taken out

09 was a shyt show
10 was an up swing which is the pace he should have stayed at until he left state
11 same offense as 10 (output wise) he ends up 7-6 he was number 73 out of 120 pts per game,

I could go down the list and break it down more, but I’m at work, point being he got talent at state and didn’t do much, now granted the talent pool he may get at Florida will for all intents and purposes should be better but i feel like it may be about the same level, i think he has a ceiling and don’t believe him to get over a hump
