Are we really calling USA winning an underdog story?
They were the underdogs in the entire semifinal and final rounds :dahell:

Not only was it their first time making it to the semis, but pretty much the only team they were expected to beat was VEN.

Weren't the favorites in ANY of their matchups. They beat 2017 favorites DR, former champs Japan and an undefeated PR team to win.

Yeah, that's an underdog breh

Dominican-Americans choose to play for DR :manny:

Giancarlo is half PR and so is Nolan Arenado. And Arenado actually said he wanted to play for team PR like, back in October. No one says anything about them Stroman lit them up so they mad

Stroman hit them with the spirit of the Negro League from his Dad side tonight. :wow:

I understand USA has not been sucessful in tournaments like this and the olympics but USA is the best country in baseball at the end of the day it really cant be considered an underdog story.

I think Team PR will get it next time, especially if Stroman and Arenado switch, but they played a hell of a tournament this year. Also glad to see Jim Leyland win his final game as the skipper.

:upsetfavre:

Anyway, the definition of an underdog is someone who beats the odds (i.e. better teams) and is expected to struggle; not make it. That defines the USA after the Miami rounds.

The only reason they put Colombia and Canada in that pool was so that USA and DR would make it out. USA probably doesn't make it (again) if PR was on there like last time.

They were underdogs
