When has it not been top heavy? There's always 1 to 2 really good teams..... Then the rest are just playing for third. SEC seems like it's in a good position to me. Missouri starting to gain relevance again, and UK and USCe futures looking bright.

Ole Miss had real talent a few years ago.....Mississippi State has a good team obviously, and even more when they have a quarterback. They weren't scrubs. They just wouldn't be able to last a full season and go undefeated with their depth.

Yeah if you ain’t Gus, or someone of equal offensive balls, you ain’t beating Saban in this era. Freeze Sumlin and Malzahn are the only coaches to beat this guy since the pseudo Tigers in 2011. 3 top tier offensive minds, but the caveat is Sumlin hasn’t repeated since Manziel’s departure and Freeze got caught cheating. Malzahn the only one to do it the legal wayMan the SEC is becoming a garbage dump where coaches go to get fired. That’s why the buyouts are so big. You have to recruit like a maniac. The boosters all think they run the team and always want to fire somebody. The fans are delusional (and trashy). Big name coaches are not coming here to deal with all that and to compete with Saban every year. All of these names that people are throwing out there like Gruden and Kelly are just using these job offers to negotiate for other jobs. There’s better job security and you don’t have to worry about getting run down by backwoods trailer trash.
But maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about
Basically the point of this post is if schools are gonna hire defensive coaches, don’t let them add pro style methodical OCs
