Bob Stoops pretty much said fukk defense in order to give his offense more touches big 12 that conference is gone even Gary Patterson saw writing on the wall.

Wrong.

We had one of the best defenses in the nation just the year before last when we went to CFP. We held Clemson in check for most of 3 quarters until we just couldnt anymore.

Last year was bad....really bad. But by the end of the season we had found a 2nd CB. If you recall, Houston and Ohio St were just lobbing balls in the air to that one side. And that's why we lost. Then we found a corner, and he got injured against Txas and was out for the season. After that we had to start over again, but got better by the end of season.

If Don Brown did what he did at a shytty talent having school like Boston College, then there's no reason Kliff can't find a half ass DC to keep the opposing team to at least 35 a game. :heh:

Just gotta put up 36 :russ:

in theory, yes. But in reality, kids in Texas now are used to playing a faster brand of football whereas kids upstate are still playing more old school in some ways

Talking bout years ago if you are in favor of having your O run a no huddle and aim to get over 100 snaps per game then u are doing very little to protect your defense

The first game will prolly be close and full of fukkkery like always, a 2nd game with all those implications would be :whew:

Man im thinking of going to that game. I should have fukking got season tickets ($700 for good seats) but i aint wanna be going to the games by myself. Hour and a half drive there. My son, he'll be 4 next month, too young to sit at a game in that HEAT, my wife aint tryna leave the 4 kids home all those Saturdays all day basically to go w/me, and my homie @Yeahimcanadian already has Jags season tix :sadcam:

UT - cant go cause that's Canelo vs GGG night

A&M - debating that

LSU - def wanna catch that

UGA - i always go to that

FSU - depending on the implications, I may go

That's gotta be one of the best season ticket schedules a fan could get for 2017

So why did Stoops retire? I never read anything about it. He gettin out before the scandal hits?

went out on a good note.

He gave a full podcast interview about it. He's still gonna have a job at OU making pocket change, $300,000 a year. So no scandal as far as i know

Talking bout years ago if you are in favor of having your O run a no huddle and aim to get over 100 snaps per game then u are doing very little to protect your defense

I mean to be fair, OU started that whole thing under Bradford. The no huddle, look to the sidelines(which I always hated) etc. Then Oregon started doing it, then Baylor, then literally the rest of cfb.

But we still had dope defenses back then when we started it.

I hear you. The same could be said about Florida kids too. I don't see why there can't be a happy medium? Florida State recruits nationwide, and so does Texas. Kids go to Texas and they'll have a leg up in getting to the league. Go find the kids that wanna be great on D, and you'll be alright. You think Herman's gonna be ok with his D giving up 40+ on the reg?

And I know that Texas Tech is on Texas.. but I guess my point is.. if you can't seem to focus on defense, then you should be able to find someone who can, and bring him aboard. It could save his job in the future.

many have tried and failed. Bob Stoops got hired as a defensive guy, had to switch ultimately. Gary Patterson came into the B12, had some success defensively before ultimately switching a couple years ago to a pass happy offense in order to keep up. Charlie Strong couldnt do it at Texas, he tried, but last yr brought in pass happy Sterlin Gilbert from Tulsa.

IMO, Nebraska, Colorado, A&M, and even Mizzou leaving hurt b/c at least 3 of those teams weren't just pass happy, so they sort of brought balance to the league even if they weren't all great teams.

But it's gonna take someone from the B12 to rise up and win in a traditional sense, and then rest of the league MAY follow suit. K-State still hasnt comformed completely.

Make some bold predictions about the upcoming CFB season.

Michigan and Alabama will see the starting QBs lose jobs to the back ups

Penn State will flop (relatively speaking. they win 9 games)

Washington will return to the playoff

USC, Miami and Texas all win 10 games. Tom Herman adjusts faster than Lincoln Riley (8-9 wins)

Auburn finally has a good season again

Georgia wins 9 games

Butch Jones fired
Kevin Sumlin fired

I pretty much agree with all this. Only thing I'm not sure about is USC winning 10. And I had Miami winning 9 games. I can see 10 though. I think they take off NEXT year, similar to Michigan.

I hope that is Speight loses his job, it's because of bad play, and we're able to savage said game with Peters. Nothing makes me more upset than watching a QB lose 2-3 games that we should've won, and then finally making the change after there's nothing really left to play for.
