I am not sure Oregon has the money to compete. People know Phil gives us a ton of money, but that has gone to facilities, never to coaching staff. Oregon has always had low paid staff. Taggart's staff is the best paid by far staff Oregon has ever had. Like, it was a big deal in the news locally. People from the outside would look at the numbers and think they are average and not shocking to what goes on regularly in college.
Taggart's original contract put him at like the 41st highest paid college coach (and that doesn't even count private universities like USC and Notre Dame who def paying more) and that contract was more than Chip or Helf got paid. His new one, if he were to sign, moves him into the top 25 and is just over $4 million a year. FSU would look at a $4 million a year contract and probably laugh. Jimbo was getting $5.5+. In order to outpay FSU Oregon would have to do something entirely unprecedented...and I think it would take $6+ if they got in a bidding war with FSU.
Personally not confident in that angle. In all honestly for having the best facilities in the country and being the kings of marketing, we are cheap when it comes to coaches.

Lowkey: I think Coach O be on Pete Carroll’s nuts sometimes. A lot of the things he does are direct ripoffs from those USC days whether it’s effective for us or not. I guess we just have to run that offense now even though we have only one pro style qb and are recruiting nothing but dual threats

Yeah, they pretty much lied when they said it was about conference championships. It's about who that particular selection committee wants to see in the playoff. This year Ohio State wasn't hot to them....Future teams know not to leave it in their hands....It's still as corrupt as the voting system from back in the day...
